Sunderland remain favourites to sign Ross McCormack from Aston Villa this summer, with leading bookmaker, Sky Bet, offering odds of 2/1 for the striker to make the switch to the North East.

McCormack looks set to leave Villa Park yet again this summer, as the striker does not feature in Steve Bruce’s Villa reshape, with Jonathan Kodjia, Scott Hogan and Gabby Agbonlahor all ahead of him.

However, recent reports have suggested that Villa are struggling to move McCormack on this summer, with his £50k-a-week wages proving to be a stumbling block and a loan move now the most likely outcome this summer.

Despite this, Sunderland remain 2/1 favourites with the bookmakers to sign McCormack this summer, with the 30-year-old priced at 5/4 to remain at Villa Park.

McCormack’s likely departure will end a torrid 12-months for the striker, who only arrived at Villa Park last summer, for a reported £12m from Fulham.

The striker scored just three goals for Villa during the first-half of last season, before finding himself sent out on-loan to Nottingham Forest following a public fall out with Bruce.

A move to the City Ground failed to inspire McCormack to get back to his best, with the striker scoring once in just seven appearances.

Prior to his disappointing spell with Villa, McCormack was one of the Championship’s star strikers, scoring 116 goals between 2008 and 2016 for Cardiff City, Leeds United and Fulham.
