' BREAKING NEWS NEIL WARNOCK SPEAKS '

NEIL WARNOCK:

“If they’ve got any feelings for the club, now’s the time to come on board and turning up"

More than 20,000 fans including nearly 5,000 Villa fans will be at Cardiff City Stadium tomorrow, and it’s safe to say Cardiff have a huge task on their hands against Steve Bruce’s side given that Villa boast the strongest squad in the division.

Cardiff have no fresh injury concerns ahead of the Villa clash.
Rhys Healey is “doing well” with his recovery.
Warnock still hopes to sign “a couple” of players before the end of the transfer window.
The manager also expects a few departures towards the back end of the window.

NEIL WARNOCK:

"There’s players who played on Tuesday who would be in the starting side at other clubs in the Championship, we are going to need 22 players so it’s how I keep them happy. It’s a good group, I’m pleased how they’ve knitted together on and off the field which will bode well in winter months.”

"I probably had a gamble on a few players this summer, but I felt we had to do that, financially-wise, to get the type of person I wanted at the club and fortunately they’ve all fitted in very well.”

On facing Aston Villa

NEIL WARNOCK:

"They’re still one of those teams aren’t they."

"I used to love the colour of the shirts as a kid all those years ago. There’s an aura about the club and that’s why Steve went there, it should be in top-half of the Premier League as a club."

"It’s a great challenge for us and I’m looking forward to see how they cope with the quality they’ve got. We’ve not got their money, I’ve been quite pleased with the money we’ve spent. We’re not the other end of the scale, but I didn’t feel we had to spend that money. He’s got a different job to me, he’s got to please them all when they all expect to be in the team.”

Aston Villa's tickets

Neil Warnock:"I would not give them any,our fans should bring a friend "

NEIL WARNOCK:

"The sort of money Steve has spent on John Terry we haven’t spent on the whole squad. Yet it’s a fantastic signing, I know exactly where Steve is coming from, there aren’t any leaders any more and he’s a dying breed and you need that on the pitch at this level. He’ll be giving all his experience to those around him."

"All credit to him. He’s on a good wage but he could have earned more abroad and I think it’s great he has gone with Steve for another chapter to his story.”

Terry v Zohore

NEIL WARNOCK:

"He’s a young lad and it’s a good experience for him, he won’t have played against that quality yet. As a young lad you want to see what it’s all about, it will be interesting to see what comes out of it."

"Sometimes you hit a wall and say ‘wow’ that’s what it’s about. You always learn from experience, good or bad. Ken will be better for it. Ken’s only just started. I wouldn’t say wasted (his career so far), but it’s taken him a while to focus on what he can do in the game and now the sky’s the limit. This is a good test In a couple of years he’ll be playing against players of that quality every week. Hopefully for Cardiff.”

It’s safe to say the feel good factor is well and truly back in the Welsh capital :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird:

On Aston Villa's allocation

NEIL WARNOCK:

"We gave them a few thousand tickets - not my idea - but if it was my decision I wouldn’t give them any"

" I’d like our supporters to bring a friend get it up to 25k mark, it’s a nice time of the year, they’re going to get 100% effort from my team, and when you see the big money spendings like John Terry to come in"

"Even if you’ve not seen us before should come. You can tell around the city and other areas they’re coming back to the club. Speaking to Vincent and Mehmet and Ken, I stressed how important it is we’re all together and I’m enjoying it at the moment.”

Will Cardiff need a cup mentality against Villa?

NEIL WARNOCK:

“Well if we lose to Villa it won’t be a shock. If we win it might be but I think we’ll be like that against all the big teams, the sides that have come down, your Sheffield Wednesdays, Leeds, and all these clubs we’ll be underdogs going into all these. And that’s probably the best we can be really, that helps us in that determination."

"In every walk of life, people want to show what they can do. Our lads are no different. I could see yesterday the lads are all really looking forward to it."

"Then my old club Sheffield United and another good game, it’s a good four days for us. There will be highs and lows, despondency and euphoria, that’s the Championship!”

NEIL WARNOCK:

“They would get value for money. If they’ve got any feelings for the club, now’s the time to come on board. We need everybody. As the bookies say, we’re in the bottom half, but when you get 20,000 fans behind you…., Villa will make a right racket and we’ve got to match that, as we did against them around Christmas last year, but I think we can do even better. I think they know now it’s not just a one-off and we’re talking a good game, I think they know they’re going to get good value for money, whatever the result, and they can be proud of their own club."

"I think that’s what I’m delighted about in, putting the pride back in the club and getting everybody behind us. The more people through the turnstiles the better for us.”

On Cardiff's positive start and John Terry

NEIL WARNOCK:

:It’s a knock on effect, it’s all about results: lose six get the sack, win six best thing since sliced bread, you have to keep things level headed. But a good start isn’t just about the crowds, it’s amazing how it lets the lads relax more because everyone not panicking about how many are below us, it’s a different type of pressure, but I hope we get it, I hope we can get a good start."

"It’s a game to whet the appetite. The sort of money Steve has spent on John Terry we haven’t spent on the whole squad. Yet it’s a fantastic signing, I know exactly where Steve is coming from, there aren’t any leaders any more and he’s a dying breed and you need that on the pitch at this level. NEIL WARNOCK:

"From my younger days when I went to Ninian Park, I used to think that I’d love to get hold of this club. Because these fans are my kind of fans. I’ve said before, this just feels right with being the type of manager that I am."

"I thrive on fans wanting value for money and triers, and I think that’s what they’ve got now, they’ve got triers. We have got quite a bit of ability as well but people don’t give as much credit for, but I’m not too bothered about that, we can keep that under wraps for now. recognise that as much.”

Neil Warnock: The team/tactics for tomorrow

NEIL WARNOCK:

"Even last week in that game we didn’t know if that (three centre backs) would come off, we didn’t really know if these things would come off. We didn’t really have great opportunities in pre-season to overdo it, we’ve had little niggles and the fitness guys want them all to get minutes under their belt so we have to go along with them a bit."

"But we have got more strings to the bow now; we changed three times last week in 90 minutes, and that’s the Championship and you have to do that. We’ll come up against teams like Villa who we don’t know if they’ll play four or five (at the back), they could do anything, and it’s what we do combating that. And when we’ve got options like we have at the minute then we must use them."

"They won’t always come off; I’ll make changes and they’ll backfire sometimes, you just have to accept you’ll get more right that wrong.”

Steve Bruce - expect him to get another promotion?

NEIL WARNOCK:

“I think he will expect it. It is a massive club and it’s an opportunity a bit like Newcastle getting back into the Premier League. Newcastle with their support, if it’s managed right, they should be in the top eight and Villa’s the same. It’s not about getting promotion and can we survive, Villa’s got the potential to be in top six, top eight, and Steve knows that."

"But it’s such a hard league, it doesn’t matter how much you spent or what have you, on the day, anybody can beat anybody else and if you’re not up to it, … it’s what makes it the best league in the world, the competitiveness and the attitude that’s needed.
Steve will have more choices about who to play than I do but I’m quite happy with the squad I’ve got.”

Warnock discusses potential departures

NEIL WARNOCK:

“That will all be last-minute won’t it? People will be looking around. Some will have lost two or three games and wonder what they can look at, others will be looking for a certain type, then it will be everybody in the hat on the last day, as stupid as it always is. I don’t know why it is like that but why I’m delighted to have got most of my business done before we got back to training. It’s very unusual for me to do that."

"I probably had a gamble on a few players this summer, but I felt we had to do that, financially-wise, to get the type of person I wanted at the club and fortunately they’ve all fitted in very well.”

Warnock on Rhys Healey's recovery from injury

NEIL WARNOCK:

“Yeah, he is doing well. It’s frustrating for him, to do so well and get a such serious injury, an innocuous one too with nobody near him.
And that’s probably what we’re lacking in the squad at the moment, a Rhys Healey While I’m looking to sign someone, it might just be a six-month loan if I can bring somebody in. Because we’ve got (Callum) Paterson, (Lee) Camp and Healey (long-term injury), but we are short in certain areas if certain main players get injured we are a bit thin. Hopefully I’ll have a chat with the hierarchy and if I can get a couple in - but at the same time I would have to move a couple out to accommodate them.”
