Everton's Europa League play-off match against Hajduk Split was stopped for several minutes after trouble broke out in the away end at Goodison Park.

Play was suspended in the 33rd minute after supporters surged towards the pitch and objects were thrown.

The teams were made to wait on the side of the pitch before the police and stewards restored order.

Visiting players appealed for calm and the match resumed after a break of almost five minutes.

Everton had opened the scoring moments before the trouble broke out through Michael Keane's header.

The Toffees added a second goal through Idrissa Gueye shortly after the game restarted as the Croatian side trailed 2-0 at half-time.

Precisely what I was thinking. Foreign mobs know they can come over here and pretty much do what they want without being immediately arrested by UK police and they know that if a British fan reacts in the slightest they get a jail term, so they fully take advantage of it. This is now happening regularly.

UEFA should make Hajduk Split play the return leg behind closed doors but I doubt very much they will. Any Everton fan going over there needs to be very careful. I fully expect to hear reports of a pub or cafe full of Everton fans being attacked by Hajduk Split hooligans.

And they would hardly be protected by their police, in fact British fans get done home and abroad, whilst foreign foreigns get away with it.

UEFA need to come down big on this.
