Neil Warnock has the midas touch

By Dominic Booth

Cardiff’s 100% record may have ended, but it still feels like Neil Warnock can do little wrong at the moment.

There was a sense Cardiff needed to change things if they were to get back into the match but, given the star status he carries, not many expected Kenneth Zohore to be the player to be sacrificed.

Yet with the Dane having been able to serve as a fulcrum and fading going into the final twenty minutes, Warnock brought off the man Cardiff turned down big money offers at the tail-end of the transfer window.

The veteran manager shared a handshake and conversation with Zohore as he swapped places with Danny Ward, as if Warnock was explaining his decision.

Yet Ward fully vindicated the move when he grabbed the leveller, heading home smartly after a delivery from fellow sub Liam Feeney.

It was a good sign that, one, Warnock won’t have any trouble making calls on star names and, two, that Cardiff have the strength in depth to trust what’s in reserve.
