BBC

The winner of one of Ireland's top greyhound races has tested positive for benzoylecgonine, the main metabolite of cocaine.

The Irish Greyhound Board said Clonbrien Hero was found to have traces of the prohibited substance in its urine on two occasions.

One of the tests was after the dog won the Irish Laurels final at Cork.

The IGB has withheld the £26,000 prize money and banned the dog from racing until it has been passed clear.

Clonbrien Hero's trainer Graham Holland said the traces of the drug must have been ingested accidentally.

The Class A drug is believed to have a similar impact on dogs as it would on humans
