The Cologne fans are all over the Emirates, they're meant to have the three thousand seats behind one goal but it's become very apparent that they're pretty much in the whole lower tier at that end. There is a riot police segregation in the middle of that tier but it's Cologne fans either side of it.

BBC

Arsenal's Europa League game against Cologne at Emirates Stadium has been put back by an hour "in the interests of crowd safety", and will now kick off at 21:05 BST.

Thousands of ticketless away supporters turned up outside the ground and there were some scuffles between fans and stewards inside after the gates opened.

The German side had only been given a ticket allocation of 2,900, but around 20,000 of their fans brought central London to a standstill earlier in the afternoon.

Police said flares were let off but reported "no significant disorder".

BBC Radio 5 live correspondent Richard Conway said Cologne fans were "fighting with stewards inside Emirates Stadium". He added that "a group arrived in the home end and fought their way into away section".

Cologne are returning to European competition for the first time in 25 years.

Arsenal have not played in the Europa League since 2000. They missed out on Champions League football by finishing fifth in the Premier League last season.

The Metropolitan Police said in a statement: "Officers are dealing with disorder at the Emirates Stadium where fans have gathered for the Arsenal v FC Cologne match.

"A policing plan is in place for the game and additional officers have been deployed."

Analysis - BBC Radio 5 live reporter John Southall at Emirates Stadium:

There is a very uneasy atmosphere at the Emirates, where a few scuffles have broken out in the away end between Cologne supporters and stewards. The gates finally opened at 19:50 BST, with thousands of ticketless Cologne fans outside the stadium.

It does appear the game will now go ahead but ticketless fans will have to be managed outside the ground and riot police have just entered.

The BBC are not reporting the truth as usual.

Koln were given 2600 tickets for the game and at 3:30am this morning, their fans broke into the Emirates and left 17,400 towels on the seats.

Major problems had ensued outside the ground and the gates had been locked.

Footage shows FC Koln fans kicking down temporary steel crowd barriers in dramatic scenes.

Fans were finally be allowed into the Emirates after they were forced to wait outside in large crowds ahead of the match.

The teams had taken the field to warm up before 8.30pm ahead of the 9.05pm delayed kick-off.

There are strange scenes as Arsenal look set to play a home game with their supporters not having quite the majority in numbers they were meant to have

Cologne were only allocated 3,000 tickets for Thursday night's match, but it is thought that close to 20,000 of the club's 100,000-strong membership have made the trip to London.

Richard Conway - BBC Radio 5 live sports news correspondent at The Emirates

The Cologne fans are in full voice now. Before kick-off I saw a group of 100 fans come into the stadium, as they fought with the stewards. Ugly scenes, punches, kicks, people diving over stewards. Police were on the scene in a few minutes but not before another group of fans repeated the act. Now there are police dogs and a line of riot police.

Arsenal and Cologne are certain to face UEFA charges for tonight.

A good chance Arsenal will be made to play at least one future UEFA club home match with no fans in the stadium.

"A group of Cologne fans entered Emirates Stadium adjacent to the away section and proceeded to fight with stewards in an attempt to gain entry to the away section at around 20:15," he said.

"A further group arrived around five minutes later and also battled their way into their section.

"Police wearing riot helmets, some with dogs then entered the stadium and order was restored."

ARSENAL FANS IN THE STADIUM - VIA BBC

Rachel: "In the Emirates as a home fan. Ashamed of Arsenal right now. All the warnings about turning away fans away and they've done nothing. No stewards to be seen. Feeling so intimidated."

Ade: "Currently inside the Emirates, thousands upon thousands of German fans everywhere around us. Horrible tense atmosphere. Tens of thousands of fans being made to feel very unsafe, including very young children. Not sure how this has happened. Has to be said if the roles were reversed and I was a British fan doing this in a German city, I'd be hanging my head in shame."

Foz: "Got to my usual seats in Club level with my 11-year-old son. Surrounded by Koln fans. So unsafe we have been moved to the other side of the ground. Worst feeling at football in 40 years of watching home and away."

Chris: "Currently in the home end at Emirates - away section (corner) full and in full voice. Hundreds of people joining in the singing in the adjacent section behind the goal that should be for Arsenal supporters. Can only assume they are Cologne fans."

I agree Jack with you.

They even praised them this morning  If British fans marched through Germany like that and kicking/pulling signs down, plus scuffles along the way, the German police would batter them.

I've got no problem with them marching, I personally think it's amazing to see. But it's how biased the media are that pisses me off. And against our own, why??
