Neil Warnock has admitted the lingering transfer talk surrounding Kenneth Zohore isn’t helping the Cardiff City striker.

And the Bluebirds boss has reminded the Bluebirds’ star’s agent that the Zohore’s in-demand status has only come about following his improvement under the veteran manager.

Zohore had been the subject of summer approaches, with Cardiff knocking back interest from Everton and bids from Hull.

Brighton were also known to be keen and Zohore’s agent Darryl Powell was quoted in Denmark as saying the club turned down a record-sized offer for the 23-year-old in the final days of the transfer window.

The same article – though not the agent – claimed Brighton were willing to pay an incredible £17m for Zohore, though that has been downplayed by sources close to Cardiff.

But having successfully kept hold of Zohore, Warnock is keen for the transfer talk to come to an end and for the frontman to be allowed to focus on his performances for the promotion-chasers.

Zohore hasn’t scored since the opening day win over Burton, and Warnock – on the latest paper talk – said: “I don’t think anything like that helps. It’s no good me powdering it over – or whatever I’d really like to say about it. I don’t think it helps does it. The agent should just think himself lucky that I’ve made him the player he is – because he was going back to Belgium and the agent wouldn’t have made a penny but that’s another story.”

Warnock will be keen for Zohore to show his worth for Cardiff when they host Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, Danny Ward having put pressure on last season’s top scorer with his first league goal for the club in last weekend’s draw with Fulham.
