Leeds United boss delivers message about Neil Warnock ahead of crunch clash

Leeds United manager comments on Neil Warnock

Neil Warnock takes on Leeds United in Wales tomorrow night.

Thomas Christiansen manager of Leeds United looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Nottingham Forest and Leeds United at City Ground on August 26, 2017 in Nottingham,...

Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen has suggested on the club's Facebook page that Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock will have extra motivation when the Whites visit South Wales tomorrow.

Christiansen's side travel to the Welsh capital on the back of a 3-2 win over Ipswich Town which kept them at the summit of the Championship.

Manager of Cardiff City Neil Warnock looks on prior to the Sky Bet Championship match between Queens Park Rangers and Cardiff City at Loftus Road on March 4, 2017 in London, England.

However, Leeds are only top on goal difference ahead of Wolves and the Bluebirds in second and third respectively and victory would see Warnock's side leapfrog them.

The veteran manager spent 14 months in charge of United until parting company with the Yorkshire club in 2013, with Leeds only five points clear of the drop zone at the time.

And Christiansen, 44, is confident that his counterpart will have the added incentive of wanting to get one over on his former side.

Asked on Leeds' Facebook page whether Warnock had extra incentive to win, Christiansen responded: "For sure. He's going to do everything he can to motivate the players for this game.

"It's a game against his old team and for sure he'll want the three points. He'll push his players to give more than they have to take this important win."

Leeds have a huge next five days or so. After visiting Cardiff, the Whites then have another tricky away trip in the form of Sheffield Wednesday in a Yorkshire derby, but emerging from both games with two wins would be huge for their promotion hopes and reaffirm the fans' belief that they are the real deal this season.

Andy, isn't this what you were saying about Gary Spunk last season? Then your arses dropped out when it really mattered.

looking at leeds results this season i was surprised. they havent really played any of the reported "top teams" so im hoping their current position owes more to who theyve played this season than their ability as a team

probably away to forest has been their best win so far this season?

In total agreeance, still a decent achievement as anyone can beat anyone in this league, it's so tough.

They've only played 1 of the relegated teams and that was Sunderland away (who are terrible at Stadium of Light) and won. Otherwise, just Fulham and they drew 0-0 at home with them. Yet to play Wolves, Villa, Middlesbrough, Derby, Hull, etc.

Said it before and will say it again they won't be anywhere close to top 2 come the end of the season mark my words. At best they will be 5th or 6th though personally think they won't make the playoffs.
