Hiya guys,

Just finished writing an article on the Championship teams who have done better than what was initially expected. If you could spare me two minutes of your time and give it a read that would be amazing (I've put Cardiff in 2nd place). Admittedly the article doesn't go into too much detail, and it's more of a general overview of who as opposed to why. Would be interested to hear your opinions (I know some might expect Cardiff to be 1st).

With Cardiff languishing second from bottom with just two wins in eleven, the inevitable sacking of Paul Trallope signalled the arrival of Neil Warnock. In his first season as Cardiff boss, Warnock lifted Cardiff out of the relegation zone and into the safety of mid-table.

One year on and Cardiff City, once strong relegation favourites, now look like serious promotion contenders. Having lost just one of their opening 11 games, the Bluebirds boast the best record in the championship and are proudly perched in 1st place. Wins against fellow promotion chasers Sheffield United, Leeds, and Wolves have tipped off the rest of the league that they mean business.

Summer signing Nathaniel Mendez-Laing has been a revelation since his arrival on a free transfer from Rochdale. The winger's pace and trickery has proved to be a real asset to Warnock's side and, with four goals already to his name, Mendez-Laing has shown that he's more than capable of hitting the back of the net. Managing to keep hold of star striker Kenneth Zohore has also proven to be crucial, the striker has netted three times so far this season, as has his striker partner, Junior Hoilett.
