Cardiff City dropped crucial points in their hunt for promotion from the Championship as they lost out 1-0 to Birmingham City in the live game on Sky on Friday night.
The Bluebirds were their own worst enemies as they struggled to muster a single chance at St Andrews, with Che Adams’ first half goal enough to give Birmingham the win in a scrappy first game in charge for Steve Cotterill.
Neil Warnock will have been bitterly disappointed to see his team come away with nothing from what, on paper, looked a very winnable game indeed.
It was a lacklustre performance from Cardiff who will no doubt rue a missed opportunity to gain some more ground at the top. It was though just a second league defeat of the season for the Welsh club, and they will take heart overall from their positive start to the season.
