Well that says to me that Newport fans felt that they could come around your gaff and take the piss whenever they wanted!

They never ever came to Swansea!

Though we did regularly go to Newport in the late 70's and they wouldn't be allowed on the Cromwell end as we'd already taken it over!

i would go there from time to time in the 70s {random games } and yes they were crap. seen the cromwell taken more than once...they seemed to get it together as they came up the divisions though.

Newport were def crap. I'd say if lads went to Cardiff on Saturdays then they were not football lads. Just numbers from Newport out on a Saturday night looking for a piss up and a ruck like most people did in those days. People forget, it wasn't just football. It could be a stag night, rugby club end of season night out etc. It was all about going 'somewhere else' having a piss up and a fight! It wasn't just down to football.

Totally agree, they had much better lads than the Jacks

Of course they did, but just like Wrexham they never turned up in Swansea. f**k me, you really hate us don't you eh! :laughing6:

I never rated Wrexham or the Jacks, just some honesty :thumbright: :thumbright:

Ok, Annis, i never really rated you lot either unless you were in big numbers. ;)

But hey, maybe you can help me out with this one. What incident prompted A total ban on away fans prior to the bubbles being introduced? Most think it was the 'Battle of Ninian Park' in 93. But's that isn't correct as there is a youtube video of us playing you at Ninian Park almost a year later (Sept 94) and our fans were clearly allowed to attend that game. Yet i cannot think of any major incident between 93 and the total ban? It's a mystery!

Well I went to the Vetch for every game from the 70's till now and during the old days shall I say, you know for a fact Cardiff took Swansea's town centre and the front of Swansea over every time and it was better than playing at home.

Neath/Port Talbot, (PVM) Blues would have already taken parts of Swansea over before the rest of Cardiff had already even arrived.

After your lot threw seats at families, no wonder fans were banned, even when we got banned at your place, the first time I got in and was eventually joined by 400 other Cardiff fans and we were left alone on the East Terrace, the second time, I got escorted out after 10 mins and joined other Cardiff fans fans walking the front of Swansea.

Every Monday night in Swansea town Centre (Martha's Pub/night club Cardiff Docks lads would take it over and would be joined by Neath/Port Talbot lads and drink all over Swansea, Swansea knew we were there, but were to scared to come out.

Jesus Annis, i asked you a genuine question and you reply to me with fairy tales! :laughing6:

400 Cardiff on the East Terrace for one of the banned games! :laughing5:
Escorted out after 10 mins and left to wander around Swansea at will! :laughing5:

Those banned games were highly policed, if there was a sniff of away support, you would not be allowed entry into either City, and if you managed to get past that then unless you kept your gob shut and sat on your own then you would be rounded up locked up, and escorted out of the City after the game had finished. I know from experience. :thumbright:

I've rightly conceded to you in the past that your numbers meant that some of you had a free reign at times when you visited, but trust me the Neath and PT lads were run all over the place early doors and usually found some place to 'hide' until the reinforcements came along, and if any of them are honest enough they'll admit that. The ones i speak to certainly do! ;)

Martha's on a Monday night eh? Was Never into the rave scene myself, but hey, if a few lads want to come down to a Swansea nightclub on a Monday night then good for you! Not exactly football related is it? Never any reports of trouble there, but i'm sure if you'd made it football related then it would have been dealt with. But well done for turning up in Swansea on a Monday night anyway! :notworthy:

Maybe you should have asked Newport or Bristol City fans to play a rivals match to raise money for Mikey Dye's family? But nah! You came to the Jacks, the most irrelevant bunch of football fans on the face of the earth in your eyes! :laughing6:

Anyway, any chance you can answer the genuine question i asked in the first place? :thumbright:

I only deal in facts and that's all true what I've said about when we were banned at Swansea, the prob is you Jacks don't like the truth.

As to Raves I could not stand them myself, it wasn't a Rave on Monday nights.

I will state it again, for me we had more fun with Newport, Bristol City and Bristol Rovers than you lot.
Port Talbot and Neath Blues dealt with you lot on match days and non match days.

As to Mikey Dye RIP, it was a Jack called Reeco who contacted me and I have nothing but respect for him and all the other Jacks who helped raise money for Mikey Dyes familyb :thumbright: :thumbright:

I honestly don't hate the Jacks never have, it was a big day out as the Valley's would turn out bigger than any other game for you lot.

Martha’s on a Monday wasn’t rave night, that was in the weekend, I know because I used to go to raves all over the place. Loads of us would travel from Cardiff, not a football crowd, it was all good, the way it should be.
As for the Newport thing in the early to mid 80’s, it was the start of the football trendy era, I was too young as I said but I’m sure Annis could write a book on it...lol....it wasn’t pissed up lads at night at all, It was during the day Saturday pm etc.
Probably a bit too early for the jacks as the casual scene didn’t really arrive until years later, some say it never even arrived which is a bit harsh.....

Correct Goats, Cardiff/Newport was the early part of the Casual/Trendy era. Those that say it never happened really don't know what they are on about and were never really there in those eras.

On field the big rivalry has always been the jacks purely because we've played them a lot over the years. Newport we've played them less than 20 times in 50 years.me like loads of city fans has watched them loads of times over the years.the only time I found the become bitter was when they plunged out of the league and couldn't complete their fixtures in the conference.

FACTS! :laughing5: Who can believe your version of events from 26 years ago, when you can't remember the facts from 6! :laughing6: Of course if you did remember correctly, you would realise it was myself who responded to a request from Carl about organising a fans game to raise money, and me who travelled to Bryntirion with Carl to meet Dibs and the committee to ensure they would allow the game to be played there. It was also me that approached Reeco to ask if he would get involved as i knew he would be able to raise a far better team than i could as that's the way we've always done things in the past. So as i said, it was the Jacks you came to and i remember you telling me on the day that Mikey (old school) Cardiff hated the Jacks with a passion. And him being an Ely lad as well, so that blows your little 'valley boys' conspiracy clean out of the water! :laughing6: :thumbright:

i think its an age thing..
there were a number of years in the mid 80s where we were piss poor and loads of the older boys had just lost interest {no crowds and hardly any away following coming here } which coincided with Newport having their golden era...so for those of a certain age {younger than me } they became our derby..and i supose { reading things i had no idea about on here like weekly fights in the City centre } arch rivals.

Nail on the head from you and Woody. Newport were always total non entities to us and you. They NEVER came to Swansea, and NEVER went to Cardiff until you were in the worst years of your existence. Does Annis think they would have shown if you were having crowds of even 6 or 7 thousand? Would they fvck! They came when you had 2 or 3! Utter fvckin no marks, and a total joke whenever we went there, as i'm sure it was for you even more so. Meanwhile, i'll await Annis's next book about how the day the St Mellons Golf club took the North Bank! :laughing6: :laughing6: :laughing6:

Spot on, We were virtually the only lads left following City as are home crowds were then at their lowest and we were going still week in week out, we bumped in to Newport on many occasions on our trips and would also go back there after away games etc

Obviously Annis thinks that going to a disco in Swansea on a Monday night with a few mates equates to taking over the City for some strange reason? :?

Armchair Blue was, and always will be the king of banter in my eyes! He had this quality of letting you get the better of him, reeling you in, then taking you to the fuckin cleaners! :notworthy:

i think its an age thing..
there were a number of years in the mid 80s where we were piss poor and loads of the older boys had just lost interest {no crowds and hardly any away following coming here } which coincided with Newport having their golden era...so for those of a certain age {younger than me } they became our derby..and i supose { reading things i had no idea about on here like weekly fights in the City centre } arch rivals.

Spot on, We were virtually the only lads left following City as are home crowds were then at their lowest and we were going still week in week out, we bumped in to Newport on many occasions on our trips and would also go back there after away games etc

Aww, you should have come down to Swansea instead mun Annis. I'm sure you'd have had much more fun than on a Monday night! :laughing6: :laughing6: :laughing6:

Actually I went down to see Anton etc Port Talbot lads for a night out, it was actually boring in Swansea on a Monday night, so by my second visit I never went again, they all did as Swansea town centre was theres  :bluebird:

Stephen,
Absolutely Spot on and you had to be around following City during that era and if you were then you would rate/respect Newport County's lads :thumbright:

I live in Newport and I was around in the 1980's (although some of that time was spent serving in the Army). Your absolutely right Annis Newport didn't have quantity but they certainly had quality in their ranks. Jack64 is right about Swansea being given the Cromwell End on numerous occasions during the 70's and 80's (couldn't have happened in the 90's as County went bust in 1988) but that was due to the Police managing the numbers of travelling Jacks.

Outside the ground it was a completely different story and the Jacks who went looking for it found it. I remember witnessing them getting a right kicking on waste ground off Cromwell Road where I used to live. A real nutter called Billy Davies led the Newport lot and even though they were out numbered he ran at the Jacks with a brick in his hand. He chucked it and it landed perfectly square on the head of the leading Jack who was bouncing up and down waving County boys on and he went down like a sack of shit  . This led to County charging Swansea and around 60% of their numbers legged it and those who stayed and fought got a complete kicking.

Newport had a small firm but due to being outnumbered in nearly every game they played they become battle hardened and had some of the toughest lads of any firm anywhere in the country.

:notworthy:

Is he still DAI HARD on CCMB?

Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit and sarcasm based on putting words in someone's mouth is the lowest form of intelligence

TBH I would have thought you had bigger fish to fry ATM considering how awful the Jacks are playing and how bad Clement is coaching the team and how much the American's are taking from the club's bank account. Surely your time would be better spent moaning on Planet Swamp than making a prick of yourself on here? :?
