850 fans away for a club that is in Div 4 and gets 2,500-3,500 at home,I think its quite good :thumbright:

Great result for Newport as they won 4-0 things are looking better from a side who were struggling last season. :thumbright:

Glad they've turned it around and when they managed to stay up last season I was really pleased. I've never gotten the hatred between the fans as some fans have but that could be before my time. Been to see them a few times when it's internationals or Cardiff aren't playing and there fans are alright.
Good luck to them this season :ayatollah:

Yes we had massive rivalry in the 70's/80's/90's , but now most of us have shook hands and actually drink together :thumbright:

Fair enough that would be it then. Just checked and we last played them in 1988 so before my time. It's nice having a league 2 team within fairly close distance though as its a totally different experience I find :thumbright:

Said 650 when i replied? Its ok support probabky reflects how small newport are, personally think they deserve better support home and away. Like another club down the m4 to them

It did sorry, i was pm that, then the official support came out.

900 is good compared to County's home support and div 4 football.

I was there and sent Annis a message. My estimate was 650 with 10 mins till kick off. Official figures were put on tannoy midway through 2nd half.

On the pitch fgr are really struggling. County are a big physical team who play to their strengths. Totally controlled game from start to finish. Wish them all the best for rest of season.

As a neutral who now lives in Newport I went along to FGR to tick one more off the 92. The last time I'd seen you lot play as county you lost 5-1 to Everton! I was very impressed. Solid at the back and clinical in the opposition penalty area. Simple but effective.

I was reading the argus the other day and I think it was Harry Kewell who was slagging county off for their style of football. All I can say is he's jealous as his team are at wrong end of table. I go along to football to watch teams attacking and scoring goals. So what if long balls are played to start an attack. Far better than pissing around in edge of own box and knocking it between your central defenders and defensive midfielders like certain other Welsh teams who then claim moral victories for losing with 70% possession.

Still have. Parts of Newport like Pill, Alway, Lliswerry and Bettws are full of loons. The city centre is rather lively at night as well!

I forgot about those. My youngest ended up in school at Maesglas. Rough as anywhere I've been. Duffryn isn't as bad as it used to be. Ring land is still pretty tough and there's a few travellers sites that are interesting!

It must have been an off the field rivalry in the 70s/80s/90s.between 1970and1990 we only played them 14 times mostly in the welsh cup.in the 1990s once as Newport afc.

It was mostly off the field rivalry and it was massive with Cardiff fans who lived in the Cardiff,Barry,Penarth,Cwmbran,Pontypool areas and I mean massive.

I go way back with many County fans, nearly 35 years and yes the rivalry was fierce and bad at the time, but I have much much more Respect for Newport County fans, than I ever will for Swansea.

Swansea dont compare with the fun we had with County.
