Neil Warnock says he doesn’t want to risk Kenneth Zohore or Aron Gunnarsson as they fight to be fit to take on Millwall

Goalkeeper Lee Camp's return has been delayed by three weeks after he pulled a thigh muscle just as knee and groin issues had cleared up.

Millwall's Steve Morison is fit to start after returning in last week's 2-0 defeat of Birmingham. His availability means manager Neil Harris a near-fully-fit squad from which to choose.

His only absentees are Shaun Williams and Byron Webster, who will respectively be missing until Christmas and the end of the season, both owing to knee injuries. The Lions are chasing their first away win of the season.

About Millwall

Millwall Football Club is a professional football club in Bermondsey, South East London, England. The team competes in The Championship, the second tier of English football. Founded as Millwall Rovers in 1885, the club has retained its name despite having last played in the Millwall area of the Isle of Dogs in 1910. From then until 1993 the club played at what is now called The Old Den in New Cross, before moving to its current home stadium nearby, called The Den. The traditional club crest is a lion rampant, referred to in the team's nickname "The Lions". Millwall's traditional kit consists of blue shirts, white shorts and blue socks.

In Millwall's 90 seasons in the Football League from 1920–21 to 2016–17, the club have been promoted eleven times and relegated ten times. They have spent the majority of their existence yo-yoing between the second and third tier of the Football League. The team spent two seasons in the top flight between 1988–90, in which the club achieved its highest ever finish of tenth place in the First Division. In 2004, the team reached the FA Cup final and qualified for the UEFA Cup, playing in Europe for the first time in their history. The club have reached the FA Cup semi-finals in 1900, 1903, 1937, 2013 and the League Cup quarter-finals in 1974, 1977 and 1995. Millwall also won the Football League Group Cup in 1983, and finished runners-up in the Football League Trophy in 1999.

In the media, Millwall's supporters have often been associated with hooliganism, with numerous films having been made fictionalising their notoriety. The fans are renowned for their chant "No one likes us, we don't care". Millwall have a long-standing rivalry with West Ham United. The local derby between the two sides has been contested almost a hundred times since 1899. The club also share a rivalry with Leeds United, and local rivalries with fellow South London clubs Crystal Palace and Charlton Athletic.

Bluebirds sweat on Zohore / Gunnarsson fitness

Neil Warnock hopes he won’t be without Kenneth Zohore and Aron Gunnarsson for long. After all, he is already without Jazz Richards and Kadeem Harris to call on as, in what must be a simple quick of unfortunate fate, all are out with ankle injuries. While Warnock has used the squad well, you did fear the loss of Gunnarsson and Zohore would hurt Cardiff.

Any further knocks and niggles would start biting a bit harder, especially when the winter months and the increased Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday slogs start to affect tired legs.

It does remind that a player or two wouldn’t be amiss in January if this chance of promotion is to linger joyfully on.

Please get rid of the red seats tan. That upper tier looks disgusting and makes the stadium look very odd indeed.

I agree with ' stants step over ' bout time ol' sticky out ribs ' got a run out, if Millwall are planning on coming down to try and bully us then Tomlin could be the perfect player to have in the centre of midfield., I remember him against us when we played Bristol and he was a huge pain in the arse against us, the guy is a wind up merchant and would really get under 'walls skin, as long as he doesn't over do it and get sent off. Also like to see big Ken back as I think he'd do well against them. 2-0 city.

This is a game most City supporters expect us to win. Problem is we have a bit of a habit of doing the unexpected, and after an excellent away win last Saturday, this is the sort of game where we typically get a decent crowd, and then blow it. I have a feeling this will not be en easy game for us, and I am going for a 2-2 draw, with a win next time out against Ipswich. As we picked up 3 points on the road on Saturday, 4 points from our next two games would not be a disaster, and if we could get all 6 points that would be a great return to form after our poor showing at B'ham.

Match Preview: Cardiff City vs. Millwall

Cardiff City FC

Thursday 26th October 2017

The Bluebirds are back on home soil as they return to CCS following back-to-back away trips against Birmingham City and Middlesbrough.

Millwall make the journey to South Wales in high spirits after their 2-0 home victory against Birmingham last weekend, securing their fourth win of the season.

What to expect from the Lions…

Currently occupying 15th position in the Sky Bet Championship table, Neil Harris’ side have had a mixed start to life back in the second tier, following their promotion from League One.

Four wins, four draws and five losses see them placed 11 points behind the Bluebirds – having taken 16 points from a possible 39. However, they have sealed victories against both Reading and Leeds United in the league thus far.

There are a number of players who have impressed for the Lions this term, including midfielder George Saville. After spending three years with Wolverhampton Wanderers, the 24 year-old made the move to London in the summer. Four goals in ten appearances for his new side has seen Saville become an instant fan-favourite at The Den.

Striker Steve Morison is another stand-out name for this weekend's visitors. The 34 year-old former Wales international has scored 26 goals in 89 games for the Lions and played a major part in their promotion campaign last season.

In the hot seat…

Harris has worked his way through the ranks at Millwall since hanging up his boots in 2013. The 40 year-old took over the U21 side in the same year, before standing in as caretaker on a number of occasions.

Eventually he was hired as Head Coach in 2015, and guided the Lions to the League One Play-Off final in his first full season in charge.

Harris also spent time at Cardiff City as a player. The former striker netted once in three games for the Bluebirds in a loan spell from Cambridge City.

Previous meetings…

The last meeting with Saturday’s opponents ended as a 0-0 draw at CCS back in April of 2015. City went eight games unbeaten against the Lions from 2005-2012, in which the Bluebirds won three and drew five.

One memorable encounter ocurred at CCS in 2010, when City came from behind to secure three points thanks to goals from Jay Bothroyd and Andy Keogh. Watch flashback highlights of the game on iFollow Cardiff City!

Club connections…

Current City winger Liam Feeney spent three years in Bermondsey making 73 appearances for Saturday’s opponents, scoring five goals.

Former Bluebirds Scott Malone and David Forde have also played for both clubs. Malone signed for City from Millwall in 2015, whilst Forde made the move in the other direction in 2008 and spent nine years with the Lions.

Others to play for both sides included Stephen McPhail, Tony Warner and Brian Clark.

Honestly it is only Millwall and I would not use Zohore nor Gunnarsson in this match as there fitness is key to our Promotion, maybe Zohore's fitness is more key, I would try something new and put danny ward up front alongside Lee Tomlin, with Dumour and Bryson in midfield and Lang and Hoilett on the wings, with Paterson replacing Peltier and Bennett or Jazz Richards the other side with our main keeper Ethridge in Goal :bluescarf: :ayatollah: :bluebird:

Especially because we have a bigger game against Ipswich at Home on Halloween night on Tuesday

Cardiff City v Millwall team news
Cardiff have plenty of goalscoring threat, with Danish striker Kenneth Zohore and Canadian forward Junior Hoilett leading their line.

Icelandic international Aron Gunnarsson is a key cog in the Cardiff midfield. Joe Ralls (three goals) and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing (four goals) offer creativity and extra goal threat from midfield.

The Bluebirds also have plenty of experience at the back with Sol Bamba and Lee Peltier in their backline.

As for the Lions, manager Neil Harris has a fully fit squad to chose from this weekend.

George Saville is the club’s top scorer this season with four goals. Jed Wallace had chipped in with three goals, while Lee Gregory and Aiden O’Brien both has two goals to their names.

If stats are anything to go by with City being goal shy (1 in 3 and that was a penalty) and Millwall not scoring in 5 out of past 6 away games, it has 0-0 written all over it.

Re: LATEST NEWS “ CARDIFF CITY v MILLWALL “ MATCH THREAD

Fri Oct 27, 2017 8:45 pm

Cardiff are again likely to be without Kenneth Zohore and Aron Gunnarsson for the Sky Bet Championship home game with Millwall.

Striker Zohore and midfielder Gunnarsson both missed last weekend's 1-0 victory at Middlesbrough with ankle injuries. The pair have returned to light training, but Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock is reluctant to rush them back and Cardiff could be unchanged after their Riverside win.
