The outstanding record Neil Warnock and Cardiff City are desperate to preserve against Brentford

It's a matter of pride for Neil Warnock and Cardiff City when they host Brentford this weekend as the Bluebirds look to preserve their unbeaten home record.

Cardiff remain the only team in the Championship this season who haven't been beaten in front of their own fans, but face an in-form Bees outfit who have won their last two games on the road.

The Bluebirds welcome back Joe Bennett on Saturday but are sweating on the fitness of kingpin duo Kenneth Zohore and Aron Gunnarsson.

But Warnock's troops will have new signing Rolf Feltscher in tow as they look to extend their unblemished home record — which stands at eight games so far this term.

"We're proud of the home form and we want to keep that going," said the Cardiff boss ahead of the Brentford clash which is quickly followed by away trips to Barnsley and Nottingham Forest.

"It's imperative the fans get behind us, lift the volume and help us get that result.

"It's going to be a busy week, a lot of travelling for the fans with the two away games."

Dean Smith's Brentford have recovered from a faltering start to climb up the division, having won four and drawn one of their last five games. They are just four points off the play-off positions, nine points behind the Bluebirds.

"It's going to be a good test for us against the best side in the league at the minute on form," added Warnock.

"They're flying at the moment but we're not a bad side either. It should be a cracking game, end-to-end. They've got good forward players and we've got lads who want an opportunity to show what we can do."

On Cardiff's injury problems, which also include long-term absentees Jazz Richards, Lee Camp and Kadeem Harris — plus the suspended Lee Peltier and Omar Bogle — Warnock added: "We have got one or two problems but the lads that are coming in will do their best to try and keep the shirt.

"It's a little bit early to who's coming back into it. Whether they'll be back for Saturday I'm not sure at the minute. They're still having treatment and we're looking at rehabilitation but some of them are not too far away."

But the manager was positive about new signing Feltscher who could be in contention for the matchday squad after signing on a short-term contract.

"He's done very well," added Warnock on the Venezuelan.

"He's a little bit short of fitness but he played in a behind closed doors game the other day so we'll get him a bit more fitness this week. There's no reason why he doesn't come into contention because we are a bit short at the moment."
