“ NIGEL ADKINS HAPPY DESPITE DEFEAT “

Nigel Adkins was pleased with what he saw from his side at Cardiff City despite suffering his first defeat as Hull City head coach.

After Nouha Dicko had struck the post for the Tigers in the first half, they fell behind to a Sol Bamba goal that ultimately proved enough to seal all three points for the Bluebirds.

However, replays showed the towering defender was stood in an offside position when Anthony Pilkington flicked the ball on and his nodded effort should not have counted.

Despite the unfortunate result, though, Adkins was keen to stress how close lowly City pushed promotion-chasing Cardiff.

“They are flying high in the division and they’re hard to play against here,” Adkins said after the game. “For a club that is down at the moment we got on the front foot and gave Cardiff problems for 35 minutes.

“I don’t think it was a free-kick (for the Cardiff goal) and it was offside. It’s fractional but it’s offside. Sometimes you get those decisions and sometimes you don’t.

“It was a competitive game and a lot of my players were on their knees at the end. They gave it everything.

“This is a tough place to come this season. Plenty of teams have been rolled over here but we competed and we were in it right the way through until the end.”

Adkins was forced into making three changes to his Hull City side before the game with David Meyler, Fraizer Campbell and Max Clark dropping out the starting XI through injury.

Injuries are beginning to take their toll on this City outfit and Adkins revealed on Wednesday night as many as 17 squad members were struggling with injury.

“Fraizer picked up a knee injury in the last game,” he added. “We’ll treat it conservatively and take it from there. On Wednesday evening we had 17 players unavailable for selection.

“We’re going to have to make changes for every game going forward. We had a couple of players out there who probably wouldn’t have played in an ideal world.”

Was onside when kick was taken but by time it was flicked on he was marginally ahead of defender but what helped was he was on same side as lino which made it hard to judge it! As he says some you win some you lose

It looked like it came off their player last, so surely on-side regardless? :? :ayatollah:

Apparently it was his arm which was goal side, you can't score with your arm, so it didn't matter.

We are talking inches anyway. Impossible for the linesman to call that

No he couldn't call it really but knowing our luck with linos he might have guessed!
And have seen them given for a big toe being offside :laughing5:
