A forum for all things Cardiff City

As one of those who grew up in the 1960's/70's when a lot of us fellow Bluebirds (especially from eastern part of Cardiff) used to regularly go down to Newport to watch a game when Bluebirds were either playing away or not playing, I was wondering where all this Newport County animosity come from?
Yes, a true Bluebird, yes a Swansea Rivalry and even a Newport rivalry; but a Newport hatred? I don't get it?
Call me old school, but I do hope Newport put one over Leeds today.
Bluebirds forever

Plenty of Newport use to support City in the 70's. Always detested the Jack buts never gave Newport a second thought.

It all went sour when Newport plunged out of the league they've had a chip on their shoulder ever since.

Oh believe me they hate us.

Newport have always hated us but I've never disliked them .
Remember standing in with Newport against Swansea in the Welsh cup and police escorted us out as Newport recognised us .
Def hatred by Newport towards Cardiff .

Having taken my life in my hands by wandering through the lanes near Somerton Park I can agree that they certainly hate us.
Want both sides to lose.

I would like Newport to win.
Would love a home draw with them in the next round if we both get through.
Im sure there will be more than 6k for that match

Good win for Newport.
Hopefully we draw them in round 4 and get past Mansfield in the replay.

When you think of it they are more of a local derby match for us than Swansea is.

Fair play to them - that was a good win yesterday.

If they hadn't gone bust late 80s they could very well be our main rivals now.

Remember going to Somerton Park in the late 80s, in division 4. Otherwise, never give them a second thought. Only time I can ever remember being in Newport.
