What's his situation?

The versatile attacker has barely featured for the Bluebirds this season, although Cardiff's injury crisis saw the Republic of Ireland international get a surprise start in the 1-0 win over Hull City before Christmas.

Pilkington came on as a late substitute in the 0-0 FA Cup third round draw with Mansfield Town, but given that Warnock has openly stated that the 29-year-old is open to move on to pastures new, you feel that his recent performances will have little or no bearing as far as his future in South Wales is concerned.

What's likely to happen in January?

Pilkington has been linked with a move to the Macron Stadium to join Championship strugglers Bolton this month.

But given that the former Stockport, Huddersfield and Norwich man still has a year-and-a-half on his contract with Cardiff, a loan move to Phil Parkinson's side would be the most likely outcome if Pilkington was to head to the Macron this month.
