What's his situation?

As with Pilkington, Connolly features at the foot of the pecking order with the Bluebirds right now.

His only league appearance of the season so far came against his former club Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road on New Year's Day, but a calf problem has since ruled him out for a month.

And given that the Bluebirds are blessed with the likes of Sean Morrison, Bruno Manga and Sol Bamba in the centre-badk berths, Connolly doesn't look like forcing his way into the first team upon his return from the treatment table.

Current contract expires at the end of the 2018-19 season.

What's likely to happen in January?

In similar fashion to Gunnarsson, Connolly's injury means a move this month is unlikely, and unless Warnock can make additions to his squad in the winter window, Connolly's versatility could prove useful in the final months of the season if the injury curse strikes again.
