What is a die hard fan ?

I see the phrase has been used on many a thread regarding attendances and was wondering what the posters that use this consider to be a die hard fan ?

supporting your team through bad times for me. Anyone can go to every game when their team is winning.
Calling for your manager to be sacked or just constantly getting on players back because you don't rate them isn't 'diehard' keep singing and cheering even when you are 3nil down away from home on a cold decemeber night.

Someone who likes Bruce Willis films.

Home and Away rain or shine, even FA Cup against Mansfield at home or Colchester even. With crap managers in Red or Blue without complaint about signings, no signings, atmosphere, colour of seats, cost of food, doesn't care about the term "plastic" just wants to follow his team that he grew up with through the good times and the bad

I don’t class myself as a die hard just a fan even though I have been following City for 20 years. So at what point do you move from a fan to a die hard fan?

I can remember the trips to Colchester on a Friday night the weekend before Christmas - trips to Northampton and port vale when the game was called off as you got here.

Waking up on a Saturday without a ticket and hoping in the car to Wigan and paying on the gate. I am sure many of us have been through those times - They were the good old days

The diehard fans I know usually are single or divorced or on the way to be divorced and have some type of drink problem. They tend to meet in public houses in the early hours of the morning and travel hundreds of miles away from home to any destination on a mode of transport which has some type of bar facility. They then reappear in the early hours of the following morning and immediately start planning the next excursion with likeminded individuals.

Are financially better off than most.

Years ago there would be up to 10 of us going from my village to nearly every away game to some of the shittest places because we didn't have kids , houses and other financial responabilities back then.
I can't speak for the other boys but i couldn't afford to do that these days.

Spot on I have been to seven away games this season some in mid-week however I haven’t been away regularly for the last eight years or so due to the reasons you mentioned but on average it costs about £100 and that’s not going bananas

As mentioned by other posters bringing the cost of away tickets down to £20 would encourage more people to go

People who've got nothing better to do with their lives. Mostly virgins, live at home with mam and dad, grass on people who have a swig on the coach, basically sad sad people...this post is mostly tongue in cheek I think...

I always look at a guy who I went to school with.

Can't say we were best of friends but as you get older you seem to put all that behind you. I see this guy at every game I go to away and would put money on him going to all the games I don't go. He has never left the village, never been married, doubt he has ever had a girlfriend and basically only knows one thing....football.

It's just a terminology! I don't class myself as die hard although been supporter since around 1966, and no matter where I was in world i would go to any lengths to get city's result! And no other club matters .
