Raiders stole £1,000 of football kits from Cardiff City club shop

Around £1,000 worth of Cardiff City football kits were stolen in a raid on the club’s stadium shop.


South Wales Police are now urging fans heading to Tuesday’s game against Mansfield to be wary of anyone offering replica shirts for sale.

Officers are investigating the theft of 20 official Cardiff City home tops from the stadium shop in Leckwith on Wednesday, January 10.

Two men targeted the shop at around 2.10pm, grabbing a handful of stock worth around £1,000 before fleeing in a red Vauxhall Astra which was waiting outside the shop.


The car, which police said was bearing false number plates, then made off in the direction of Cardiff Bay .

Sergeant Paul Edwards said on Tuesday, ahead of the Bluebirds’ FA Cup Third round replay: “While this theft happened relatively quickly it left the staff member really shaken and we are keen to trace those responsible as quickly as possible before any other businesses are targeted.

“I’d appeal to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area at the time of the theft to come forward and I’d also urge anyone heading to this evening’s away game against Mansfield to let us know if they are offered a City shirt for sale cheaply.”

Just as well they did'nt beak into the Liberty Stadium Trophy room. If they wanted to nick any cups the only place they would find any would be the canteen.

I hope they didn’t nick all the XXXL shirts or you’ll never see Tomlin in a City shirt again.
