Man City match, VAR?

Anyone think we will have VAR in the cup match?

Who decides?

Who decides?

It's being 'trialled' in the Carabao and FA Cup and as our game is live' on TV, there is a good chance that it will be operation at the City v Citeh game due to the high number of cameras at the stadium to assist the assistants (so to speak) :? :ayatollah:

Think it’s only premiership grounds that are ready for it.

Not sure it will be as need to have live feed to London offices of FA! Cup games mentioned have all been at home of premier clubs... but as we've been in premier we may have that installed will have to wait and see

When you say “ready” what are we potentially missing that we need?

It’s just a little screen and a microphone isn’t it?

No var uses around 15 camaras to get best angles so need special connection direct to FA HQ! City may have that as been in premier before :old:

Not sure exactly but this is the bit of an article I read about it not being available at Ashton Gate.

Why is it not being applied to the Bristol City vs Manchester City Carabao Cup semi-final?

It would have been okay to use at the Etihad but Ashton Gate is not a suitable venue for the system.

Only Premier League grounds have the technology to get the footage back to the league’s TV HQ in Uxbridge.

It would be inconsistent to use it in one of the legs and not the other at the Championship club’s ground.

Not really inconsistant as it's only a trial? Was talk of it being rolled out to efl if it's a success they probably mean championship as goaline tech is used in championship not in other divisions

Yes, that's why I thought we'd be okay if they decided to use it

I think we're still set up for goal line technology, too? :thumbright:

We’ve been using goal line technology all season. Also you remember Tomlin’s goal against Reading?

As for var no idea how it works regarding cameras as was used last night but match not on tv! Unless they are targeting games and installing cameras for the trial? As only premier grounds have capacity to send back to fa hq so will only involve premier grounds.

Doesn't really go into details but here's a link on the BBC

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42604127

"VAR can only be used at Premier League stadiums where there is a direct link back to the Premier League studios west of London - where the VAR has access to between 12 and 15 camera angles, including four cameras in each goal.

It will be used in the return leg of Chelsea v Arsenal and implemented in every round of the FA Cup and some further replays, based on broadcaster TV picks and whether the host for each tie is in the Premier League."

Question is do city have such a link after their stay in premier? :old:
