Neil Warnock on Anthony Pilkington's future

NEIL WARNOCK:

"The thing with Anthony is, I have to take my hat off to him. We couldn’t give him away in the summer, even teams in next division down. He could have thrown his bat and ball away, but he’s knuckled down, I’ve never seen him train as hard, I’ve not had one problem, played in the Under-23s, talked to the kids when it would have been easier to sulk. He’s been an absolute credit."

"He came back into my thoughts a few weeks ago. I told him after the game against Sunderland that his reward was he was playing Tuesday and I thought he did alright against Mansfield. Anthony’s got quite a lucrative contract so there’s no club bashing my door down, they’re offering peanuts. I’d rather keep him, especially with Wardy going. Especially with his attitude."

"My missus says it’s because he’s had his hair cut - he looks like a footballer now. He looks hungry so I’m really pleased with him.”

2 in 2 for Pilks, adopted at attitude to working hard and training well, could be just the thing for us to pop up as a sub and get a late goal, can't sell him may as well use him, not dropped his head throughout, love that attitude and commitment to the cause, you can see from the players reactions when hes scored that he's well liked.

Good on pilkington. He always gives 100% In games and I'm not suprised by warnocks comments. He's obviously grafted all season and finally earnt himself a chance for the second half of the season. With Danny Ward out for the season now I believe pilks can do a job for us.

Well done Pilkington, it’s great to see a footballer knuckle down and fight for his place, Cardiff fans always love a player that gives his best, really pleased for him :ayatollah:

All that we ask is for our players to give it their all.

Pilks wants to succeed, obviously knows he is overpaid for the role he plays, he could easily take the money and sit in the reserves but I'm glad that he is still thirsty to get into the first team and the quote about how he is around the youngsters and reserves is all you could want if you were his manager.

I just wish this forum could come to a consensus on his best position!

Brilliant management by Warnock, making the press and fans aware of how hard he is working, many Managers ignore this aspect of management and just try to take the credit when the team or player are playing well.

All positive stuff and to keep the team and support together :ayatollah:

I understand that Warnock is intent on keeping Pilkington at the club, couple that with that ludicrous decision to extend Feenys loan spell, tell me how is that fitting in with Tan telling Warnock to ship out players to bring in new recruits unless we are in negotiations to let some of our first team players go
