" Scottish players at Cardiff "

Am sure the list goes back further, but in my 30 years watching the city the Scottish players have always done brilliantly for us. Am not going to name them all, but super kev, Burke, two fantastic goalkeepers in Alexander and Marshall, mc cormack and now Patterson. Even cowie and gavin Rae did a job here. We have had some great Scottish managers as well so why do you think this fit works so well ? They clearly have the right attitude, and in Patterson I think we might have found the best of the lot. I didn't expect anything from him until next season, he's clearly not a natural midfielder but he's without doubt a great attacking threat and knows where the goal is. He's direct, aggressive and great in the air.

Should we be looking at more scottish players as it's clearly paid dividends for us over the years?

If we had 11 Paterson's we'd win this league at a canter. He can play any position, probably even give goalie a good go!!!! :bluescarf:

I completely agree with you that we have had some fantastic Scottish players over the years but we obviously shouldn't be paying more attention to a specific nationality. I'd take an English Callum Paterson àny day of the week haha! I think it may be just a bit of coincidence that we've had many good Scottish players, how many bad ones have there been though? I can't think of many. Simon Lappin I didn't rate, Some may say Miller and Watt but I didn't mind either of them. Yes the Scots have done a job for us :bluescarf:

I go as far back as the great Don Murray Alan Campbell and the magician that was Ian Gibson, agree Scotland has always been a happy hunting ground for us

I think Some Scottish players are the type of players to help get you out of the Championship, just look when Malky was here :thumbright: , But once in the Premier League, there are not so many class Scottish players.

I think what you find is most them are proper characters and have a really good mood on the dressing room and give you 110%.

George Wood was another good Scottish 'keeper. We had a few problems in the goal keeping department before he steadied the ship. Jimmy Andrews and Frank Burrows excellent mangers, who both managed us to promotion.

Yeah true, he had no hair but we didn’t care.

Paterson has adapted so well to midfield. He is too attack-minded to be a fullback and will always get goals. He is improving every game.
Bryson is Scottish and has been a big disappointment.

Gibson, Buchanan and Murray are three of my all time favourites.

And, the most famous goal in Cardiff City history was scored by a Scot - Hughie Ferguson.

Scottish Football is my specialist subject and I concur with this, don’t know why but the days of producing a Law, Souness or Dalglish seem long gone, plenty of decent players who’ll give a great shift and as you say get us out the Championship but Premiership level Scottish players are few and far between.

Agreed they generally have had a good work ethic and attitude and that's what us City fans value !!!

Patterson is really good and I can see him make a big difference to us for the rest of the season.
