INCREASE CROWD IDEA?

" increase crowd idea "

We have 8 home games left ,why dont we offer a guaranteed season ticket next year at this years price if you attend at least six homes games yet to play. We have a chance of playing in the prem next year so i would have thought the closer we get to that possibility then people would think about this.(obviously any season ticket holder currently would get the same deal).

ANY IDEAS?

Id say just fill the remainder with school kids and parents, I've no beef with people getting in for free, but the club will benefit long term as more kids will want to return.

Having just read the subject line I was about to slate you off as there are only two ideas.... cheaper tickets and success.

But that is a very good idea. First on the list for ST's after this year's holders.

wont be long until season tickets are on sale for next season. if we are still around the top two i imagine we will sell quite a few.

Brilliant idea. I’m definitely getting one next season. The reason I haven’t is I work 4 on 4 off so can’t always attend. My thinking for next season is the games I can’t go give my ticket away to someone and hopefully they will get the bug. Bluebirds

We have some of the most fickle glory chasing fans in the country, we always have been, embarrassing really. One point off second spot and the true size of the crowd last night will have been about 12,000, and only a fiver a kid. We are at best mid size league one size club, similar size to a club like Brentford. :bluebird:

If people want to come they will..the club has done cheap season tickets, cheap half season tickets, cheap family tickets, cheap match day tickets etc etc

I think we just need to realise we have between 12-18,000 hardcore fans we will attend when they are able too and maybe another 12-15,000 who will pick and choose games when they want to attend

Remember 20 years ago we were playing in front of 3/4,000 spectators having lost a lot whole generation of fans various reasons

We just need to accept we are a reasonably supported championship team fighting above our weight

Brentford??,Cardiff are miles bigger,if we were in the premier league our crowds would be 30,000 plus,if we become an established premier league club,we'd need to increase the current capacity, question is why won't they come now

I know, saying we are the same size as Brentford is laughable.

  Embarrassing..?

How can you get embarrassed ? Do you actually blush ?

For what it's worth, I feel due to our recent club upheaval/and the general pissing off of the fans, I actually think the club is doing okay. Cold night, school night etc....
All takes its toll.
Embarrassed ? Me....nah.

I'm not sure how big an issue this is , but sit at the back of the Canton Stand and usually there are quite a few empty seats around me. To get to my seat I am ask to show my season ticket at least three times. I have had a few instances where my daughter and her friends wanted to come so I got seats as near as possible assuming she could move up. The last few times we tried this she was told she couldn't go further up than her seat. She now doesn't bother coming.
I would make one of the stands a first come allocation so you can sit next to friends etc and maybe charge less.
Just an idea

Whatever it takes. Anything to get the pitiful numbers up. Let’s face it the club’s marketing is atrocious. 4 of the 5 blokes I work with didn’t even know we were playing last night. Billboards, bus posters, schools, ticket offers. FFS we’re on the brink of the Premier League.

Sorry but this is wrong.
Cardiff has to operate as a business, you are a fan and your view is expressed as a fan. If you were running the club and were ultimately responsible for the financial responsibility of the club you would look for every avenue to increase support. You would not just say Ive done my bit f**k um. Increasing the potential of the crowd is also about raising the match day atmosphere and giving the team a bit of a lift and hopefully getting better results , we need everyone to get behind the team. A full stadium for those last 8 games would give them just that.

Frankly, If others do not turn up for whatever reason that is entirely up to them, the time my day is spoiled is if we lose. :ayatollah: :bluebird:

Not interested if its rebrand, out shopping, working whatever I am there to support the City :ayatollah:

Sadly Simon I am starting to believe and see that.

Your right £5 under 16's

Plus £18 in Ninian Stand last night

Plus season tickets working out at £2.50p each game.

Busses put on.

City can't do much more.

Little Brentford very sad we are now compared to them, a club surrounded by other clubs and always been a small club.

Warnock,Media,Vince Alm,Tan/Our Club and many fans are shocked and saddened by our awful support home and away.

As this topic is about ideas.

I really believe the whole of the Upper Ninian Stand every game should be packed with Kids Free from all the schools.
5,000 tickets given out for every home game :thumbright: :thumbright:

The Kids are the future for Cardiff City :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Overall, I tend to agree but if we carry on with crowds not responding to a successful team and manager, then we'll end up with what we deserve, i.e. a mid-table Championship club taking the odd 'scalp' against the Divisional 'big boys' and also in the Cups

Been there and done that and as good as those occasional 'scalps' were, I much prefer where we are now! :ayatollah:

i dont have one. i think the club could be a lot more professional with their marketing and advertising, but the cheap deals and the general prices are very good.

people just dont want to turn up for a cold tuesday night against bolton, doesnt bother me in the slightest.

The same people complaining about the low crowds will be complaining about plastics if we are in the prem next season... take the original post i quoted as an example, pathetic pettiness from some, and if we had taken his idea 15 years ago we would have had 5,000 there last night

Re: INCREASE CROWD IDEA?

Wed Feb 14, 2018 2:46 pm

The championship is done and dusted for the majority out there even if they made it free entry .premier league promotion this season or we just become a small club again catering for a few thousand people ala 80s/90s.

Re: INCREASE CROWD IDEA?

Wed Feb 14, 2018 2:47 pm

Incidentally, whilst fundamentally we should focus on home crowds and how we can improve it surely there is a concern as to how few away fans come to Cardiff still.

Apart from Aston Villa, not one single team has brought more to us than their current away average following, some fall way below. If each team had brought their 'average away following' our home crowds would be averaging at just under 20,000. Also just saying but out of our 15 home games, only 7 have been 3pm on a Saturday, 4 Tuesday Nights, 2 Friday Night, 1 x 12.30 Saturday Lunch time and 1 x 5.30 Saturday evening, 4 on sky, this will all have had an impact on our crowds whether we like it or not. How much would our average have increased by without the changes is an open discussion.

I wont list them all unless someone asks but here's a few.

Derby - Average away following 1530 - to Cardiff - 1137 - minus 393.
Fulham - Average away following 1275 - to Cardiff - 584 - minus 691.
Sunderland - Average away following 2032 - to Cardiff - 888 - minus 1144.
Ipswich - Average away following 1178 - to Cardiff 428 - minus 750

There are some big ones in there ranging from a few hundred to just shy of 1,000 down for some.

Millwall brought 1,000 here at £20 odd a ticket but took 1,500+ to Leeds at almost double the price, why is this?

In regards to our away crowds, if I have read it right we have played 8 teams home and away so far this season, 4 have brought more to us than we took to them and we have taken more to 4 than they brought to us.

The 4 that have brought more to us are Sunderland, Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday (all massive clubs at this level), plus Milwlall by a couple of hundred but that would not have been the case had our game not been moved to a Friday Night on Sky.

Maybe its just me, but whilst obviously things could be better, when you look at the bigger picture, are they realy that bad either?

What I am trying to say is I don't think the club can do much more, we have probably some of the cheapest tickets in the championship a team never outside the top 4 all season and a Manager who has if you believe reports just spent 4/5 million on a striker

We could try to fill the ground with free tickets, but that won't bring in any income, hopefully we will see 17/18 thousand for the Boro game and if we are still challenging maybe 20,000 towards the end of the season

Your back? After calling me a liar on here and I proved you wrong
Disappeared for weeks.

SO YOUR BLAMING OUR POOR HOME CROWDS ON CLUBS NOT BRINGING BIG AWAY SUPPORTS TO US
YET AWAY SUPPORTS COMING TO US,HAVE OVER ALL DOUBLED THIS SEASON TO US COMPARED TO LAST SEASON :thumbright:

OUR HOME SUPPORT AVERAGE IS 15TH IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP YET FOR 7 MONTHS WE HAVE NEVER BEEN OUT OF THE TOP 4.

WARNOCK/TAN/OUR CLUB/SUPPORTERS CLUB/MEDIA ETC ARE ALL TALKING ABOUT OUR POOR HOME ATTENDANCES EVEN THOUGH CITY HAVE MADE IT BEYOND CHEAP TO WATCH THEM.

AS TO OUR AWAY AVERAGE SUPPORT ITS BEEN IN THE BOTTOM 4 FOR THE LAST 4 YEARS.

BUT LETS BLAME ALL THIS ON OTHER CLUBS & THEIR FANS FOR OUR OWN FANS NOT TURNING UP / YOU SERIOUSLY COULD NOT MAKE THIS UP

And yes sadly they are that bad, when you look at how well we have done on the pitch/free busses,cheap/cheap tickets to watch City. Yet they are falling weekly.

7 months on and 101 excuses were used last Aug/Sept/Oct/Nov/Dec on why fans were not coming. The main excuse was when fans really believe City are serious contenders they will return, well 7 months later City are still right up there :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

I actually have nothing but praise for Warnock, our team and even our club this season, they have done everything possible to bring our fans back :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

REM WE HAVE BEEN TOP & NEVER BELOW 4TH IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP ALL SEASON, SO TO COMPARE US WITH CLUBS WHO ARE NOT GOING FOR PROMOTION IS MADNESS & CLUBS AT THE BOTTOM SHOULD NOT EVEN COME IN TO IT.

THIS TOPIC IS ABOUT TRYING TO HELP BRING BACK OUR FANS WITH NEW IDEAS OR IDEAS / NOT BLAME OTHER CLUBS FOR OUR LOW ATTENDANCES.
