I have been one of his biggest critics on this forum, but from what I hear he played well last night. Glad to hear that he is showing a bit of form because we could do with him knocking a few in over the next few months. I think that is the one thing that lets him down for me, lack of goals. A good all round player, but needs to be scoring on a regular basis if he is to be considered a true top striker.

He did ok last night but is still a long way from the form he showed in the second half of last season. May still be suffering from the after effects of his injury.

I'd love to see him improve his ability in the air and I don't mean so that we can just lump the ball up to him at every opportunity. For a tall man he is absolutely no threat in the air which means that for corners and free kicks he might as well stay back on the halfway line with the full back!

Surely being better at attacking the ball using his height is something that can be coached into him? It would add another dimension to his game also.

He needs a few goals in the final run in big time. But we can't keep lumping it upto him. Play to his strengths!

That is why I have said I do not see him being a prolific scorer. The majority of top strikers sniff out the goals from inside the box, and a fair percentage come from being able to head the ball. He seems to have a weakness in the air, and a lot of his goals a eye catching shots from outside the area. Unlikely you will get 25 of those in a season. I know players like Messi are not brilliant in the air, but with respect to Zohore, he is no Messi.

In one of the photos last night did you see how high Paterson jumped, a goalie with his long arms could not get that high

He is not impressing me. Is work rate is there. He is trying hard ti shield the ball and bringing other players into the game. But he always looking for fowls, he's crap in the air and is way off a 10 million pound player. But I will applaud his efforts every game.

Yes i agree at least he is now trying, which may have been down to his fitness after his injury, but now he needs a few goals to get his confidence back. :ayatollah:

He was fantastic on Tuesday, was a real handful and was unplayable on times hence why Bolton were so aggressive and physical.. first time in a while where we played decent service into him low balls into his feet and chest area.

Warnock did say this and people are failing to acknowledge it but we was all aware watching how much he chased everything down and with him playing a lone role and us being so dependent on him that it did tire him out and that's why he reserves energy a bit to save himself on the attacks which we seen on Tuesday.
