The view from Boro

Cardiff City’s promotion bid will be significiantly boosted by a win at home to Middlesbrough on Saturday.

However, Boro have their own ambitions, with boss Tony Pulis tasked with preparing his side for a genuine push for the play-offs over the next few weeks.

It’s safe to say the Teesiders aren’t taking anything for granted at the Cardiff City Stadium, with local journalist Anthony Vickers admitting that they face a tough task in the Welsh capital.

The Cardiff clash will be a massive test of Boro’s play-off credentials.

Any side managed by arch-pragmatist Neil Warnock is always a physical and tactical challenge at the best of times but for Boro it represents a fundamental problem that has dogged the campaign: if they are to scramble into the top six they must find a way to beat the big boys.

The trip to South Wales is the first of five crucial remaining showdowns against teams currently above them in the table.
And with games running out and the need to bank points pressing, Boro must come up with a formula to make those games count.

We tend to play better against teams that come and have a go at us. Think we'll win this one.
