UPDATED: Cardiff City Football Club is delighted to announce

The board of Cardiff City Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Datuk Marco Ronaldo Mario Caramella as a Non-Executive Director.



He will be tasked with bridging the Bluebirds and his country of residence, and his efforts will no doubt help to increase Cardiff's profile in Asia.

Marco was born and raised in Cardiff, and has spent a good period of his life as an entrepreneur with a number of distinguished businesses in Malaysia.



An invaluable asset in bridging Cardiff City Football Club and Malaysia, everyone connected with the Club would like to wish Marco the very best in his new role.

Cardiff City have appointed Datuk Marco Ronaldo Mario Caramella as a Non-Executive Director.

The 49-year-old was born and raised in the Welsh capital but has spent long periods of his life as an entrepreneur in Malaysia.

He will be tasked with bridging the Bluebirds and his country of residence, and his efforts will no doubt help to increase Cardiff's profile in Asia.

Cardiff City Executive Director & CEO, Ken Choo, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Marco to Cardiff City, as he becomes a valuable member of our board of directors.

“Marco has been successful around the world with a number of businesses, gaining ample experience and skill throughout his career.

“Having been born and raised in Cardiff, we’re very glad to have him on board here at his hometown club.”


He was officially named by Companies House as a director of Cardiff City Football Club in November 2017.

Non Executive directors can and often do get paid...their roles are normally more advisory and don't have much say in the day to day running of a business

You would suspect he's not here for fun that's for sure! More interested in what club may be planning?

My immediate thought was the possibility of him, being from Cardiff, wanting to buy a stake (100% / 50%) in his hometown club - with a sale price dependant on whether we are in the Premiership or the Championship next season.
