The Bluebirds’ latest win against Boro saw them extended their unbeaten league run to six matches.

And it represents Cardiff’s joint-best unbeaten league run under Warnock.

They went six unbeaten at the start of the season, picking up 16 points from those games.

And before Christmas, they also got 16 points from a possible 18 after a six-match unbeaten run.

Impressive when you think that their best unbeaten last season in the Championship was just four matches.

Under Warnock Cardiff City have this season been Top 2 of the Championship for 5 months & Never out of the Top 4 All Season.

Now for Cardiff City fans to do their part and be Warnocks 12th man in the run in and starting with Bristol City home a 25,000 plus crowd and not to go lower for the rest of the season :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Annis, what was our average crowd placement under Malley, in his first season in charge and promotion season. That would make an interesting comparison.

The promotion season our home average was 22,998 :thumbright: :bluebird:

Under Malky First Season (No promotion)

West Ham 30738
Derby 25960
Southampton 26149
Leeds 23175
Cardiff 22,100
Leicester 22028

This season its about 18,600 so far.

But this season is the biggest average of away fans coming to Cardiff City Stadium in the Championship :thumbright:

Just looked on BBC

Cardiff City average home attendances

22998 Average 2012-13 Season
22100 Average 2011-12 Season

26558 Highest 2012-13
20058 Lowest 2012-13

And guess what we've been talking about attendances/crowds etc since 2009 and when we were getting bigger crowds everyone was obsessed with them, but the last 4 years now it seems the usual suspects now say why are we obsessed with them

We are currently 16th best, but what position were we, in 2011-2013?? with those higher averages?

Our home Support then was Top 5 of the Championship both seasons :thumbright: :thumbright:

And less away fans came to the CCS in those two years than they have this season.

We were 4th/5th and then Top for 5 months and Won the Championship.

2012/13 Average.
22,998.

We were 8th/9th/6th/5th and made the play -offs hammered by West Ham 5-0 over two legs.

2011/212 Average.
22,100.

CAN YOU NOT SEE THAT CITY HAVE A BIG PROBLEM REGARDING OUR CROWDS, THEY REALLY HAVE STOPPED & NOW WE ARE CHEAP PRICES & GIVE TICKETS AWAY.
If it was not for the Leeds home game we would be 17,000 average. £5 for Adults.

We even gave half-season tickets at £2.50p Under 16's a game and £9 Adults a game Ninian Stand

Some pertinent points there, Annis and it's hard to disagree with any of what you write :thumbright:

Something has happened between the 2nd Malky season and the current one and it does appear a lot of previous 'die-hards' have effectively given up (or more likely found other things to do on a match day)

Not just in football but in all walks of life, no matter how regular or loyal they are, if a person stops doing something for more than a short time it becomes difficult to go back and do it again, so the 'habit' breaks

I think that's a lot of what happened here and a lot of very good fans have been lost

Those stats Annis, certainly put our drop off in crowds in perspective. You are aware of my thoughts regarding the main reason for this, I really can't see how anyone can put up an argument against the fact that the rebrand lost us around 10-20% of our traditional support.

Correct Sven.

My dad watched Cardiff from the late 70s ( I think ) and he stopped during the rebrand and has never returned.
He does the occasional away day but that's just for a day out with his mates.

I haven't been to the CCS for years either myself but this season is the closest I've come to attending a home game.

Chris,

Def many many of my friends, fellow Bluebirds were so let down by the Rebrand, then Premier League Disaster/ in fighting at our own club, they have found other things to do in life.

Your spot on with your comments.

Sadly a lot of good fans have been lost and won't return regularly like they use to

One million people live within easy reach of Cardiff city stadium.if a few thousand fans disappear for what ever reason they should easily be replaced by "newbies" wanting to watch a team trying to reach the premier league .cheap tickets nice stadium second still cant entice a minimum of 20000 people per game out of such a large population I find very disappointing.

Wasn't the rebrand for him though Liam was it. What he told me was it was everything about modern football. He'd been coming less and less before it.

He'd done it all and was bored and fed up with the way football was going. He'd seen City at Wembley and in the Prem, and been to virtually every league ground.

A lot of people lost their connection to City and have found other things to do. This, I think is down to modern football and being disenfranchised by the club and the circus it became. Things will never be the same again for many. Things move on though and the club needs to concentrate on building the next generation of fans.

Spot on

Best post I seen on this, totally spot on. Past is the past and we all became fans at one stage. Players come and go managers come and go and fans even come and go but city goes on. If the 4,000 lost don't want to come time to stop crying about it, it's up to them and I agree that modern football isn't great but at times ( last twenty minutes Saturday ) you get a reminder why you love it so much. Time to look to he future, I will say this though. If our capacity was 20,000 you would hear no complaints, the ground would be mostly full for a lot of games and sold out for others and everybody would be happy. Our massive ground doesn't help us, it has raised expectations that it should be holding more. Am not saying we shouldn't have a big ground as it's in place should we get success but I do feel it's an issue at times.
You have to go through the bad times to appreciate the good times!!!

We have a hardcore fanbase of around 16,000. Not the huge base that people seem to think. There's around 3-5,000 who have stayed away but visit occasionally then the "fairweather/plastic" fan who will go to the glamour games. Just have to accept it

So thr season s in red were our highest average attendances for years ? It put the myth to bed that the rebrand has caused our drop off ,the fact is that we just have a lot of fair weather fans always been the same

If I hear this rebrand thing as causing the loss of 4/5 k supporters again I will scream, It's a load of absolute nonsense. We were told if Tan turned the colour back to blue everyone would come back, it didn't happen. If these " cry babies are not watching City because of this then they are pathetic.
Throwing toys out of Pram comes to mind.

Have you asked them all why they don't go? If not how do you know that's why they don't go? Like said before rebrand is a reason for some? yet financial, domestic and any other reason are classed as excuses by same people! !! Yes some left because of rebrand but then always thought fans supported the players /team but obviously they don't :old:

So excellent posts on this topic. So many reasons I believe have resulted in where we are. The club have done lots of positive stuff the last 2 years, Warnock has been excellent just a shame he could not come when solksjaer left. Slades boring football even put me off! Left games early under slade due to boredom!

The crowds we get now are disappointing but they are what they are and we have to accept this. The only way to dramatically improve them are premiership football or Bradford/Huddersfield priced season tickets at 189! Personally thought this season was a time to do this. Those prices would have got 20k minimum as season ticket holders... Possibly closer to 25k

Matchday experience atmosphere would be better with canton switched by away fans. Yes another topic done to death but would be better than a sodding drum being a relied to keep us fans going

I have a theory on why our attendances are not as high as they were in the 2012-13 season.

1. We came over from Ninian Park a few seasons previous with 18,000 approx season ticket holders then we had the 5 yr price freeze so were in the middle of that offer during the 2012-13 season.

2. Didn’t the Premier sears sign up for 5 season deals and those numbers have dropped too.

3. This is the most inportant point for me, at the beginning of the 2012-13 season we all know the rebrand of CCFC took place, the Echo, the club and other media outlets championed the £100m investment into the club and this I believe was the catalyst for the increase in attendances that season, the public were excited by the investment and as such we saw increased crowds. We were promoted that season, so the following season the crowds were guaranteed virtually because of the Premier League. The season following our relegation we held on to fans who lived in hope of an immediate bounce back up to the top flight.

Since then our crowds have been decreasing due the ‘negativity’ surrounding wages cut backs and no more big spending etc.

My personal opinion is that we won’t see big crowds unless we are successful and by that I mean Premier League football now before we see the ‘floaters’ return.

Only my theory but I don’t think it is down to one incident but a number of factors all coming together of a few seasons.

Carl, that's as good a theory/explanation as any I've seen :thumbright: :ayatollah:
