Nottingham Forest fans furious as kick-off at Cardiff City is pushed back for Sky Sports coverage

Nottingham Post

Saturday 17th March 2018

Nottingham Forest’s game at Cardiff City on April 21 has been put back to a 7.45pm kick-off in order to accommodate Sky Sports.

The match, originally scheduled to start at 3pm, will be televised.

The move ruins plans for Reds fans looking to get back from south Wales by train as the last departure from Cardiff is at 8pm.

The decision has already angered some fans who feel it is another case of Sky ignoring the wishes and wellbeing of supporters.

"Yeah but presumably Sky are funding a ‘Football Special’ train home so we don’t have to sit on the platform till Sunday morning? No? What a breathtaking opportunity to be first up for this monstrosity of an idea," tweeted Reds fan Nicholas Ashley.

Cardiff are second in the table and pushing hard for promotion under Neil Warnock, hence Sky’s interest, while in-form Forest have proven to be a ratings winner for the broadcaster.

To many games being ruled over by sky and genuine fans suffering and losing money on days booked off travel and accommodation home teams benefitting from revenue minus and plus for both sets of fans who prefer to watch from home

Not sure they would be furious if it was next a game next season in the premier league.

IMO where there’s a will there’s a way

I don't think there's any winners here mallo mate this could effect our crowd on the other hand it might suit others to have a later kick off can't blame the nottingham forest fans more so the ones who wanted to come by train

The club have plenty of notice - why don’t they open the top tier and offer reduced tickets to all club sides affiliated to the football leagues around South Wales.

There are hundreds of teams across all ages that play Saturdays that wouldn’t normally make it

You could offer the tickets for a fiver per person or 25 tickets for 200 a side and I am sure you would get a decent then out as normally they would be playing on a Saturday

Agree with the sentiment about Sky ruining it but don't have too much sympathy with them on this one. Our game at Forest this year was a 1 o clock Sunday kick off and that was nothing to do with Sky.

"Special train" home! Never seen more than 30 Forest fans on the 17.45 out of Cardiff in over 15 years.

Simpes, dont buy a ticket. We are just beads on a bit of string. Sky just the puppet masters.

I'll probably go though to support the boy's.
