BREAKING: NEIL WARNOCK

NEIL WARNOCK THIS MORNING IS GIVING HIS FULL REACTION :thumbright: :bluebird:

Monday 19th March 2018

Neil Warnock slams 'scandalous' decision to call off Cardiff City's clash with Derby County due to snow.

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has called the postponing of his side's game against Derby County a "disgrace".

NEIL WARNOCK:

"We got to the ground and the car park was clear, the pitch was perfect. Absolutely disgraceful really," said Warnock.

A new date has not been announced, but it is likely to be in April because of the upcoming international break.

Derby County currently sit fifth in the Championship, 14 points behind Cardiff

Warnock suggested that Derby, who had been hit with an injury crisis in the build-up to the match, welcomed the postponement.

"All week I have listened to comments from Derby, they have all been negative, and that's before the snow came down," he said.

"They have been talking about the injury situation, yesterday the manager Gary [Rowett] said they only had 10 players training and if they could get away with this weekend's game, they would be fine.

"Things like that should be looked into.

"All the lads were raring to go and looking forward to it, but you can't blame Derby for wanting it off - you wouldn't want to play us at the moment."

"An announcement was made at 8.30am and the EFL is satisfied from the information shared that these were the reasons the match was postponed and will provide Cardiff City with the opportunity to provide any additional information they feel is relevant, before responding further."

'A complete shambles'

"It's a complete shambles and we're on the end of that," said Warnock.

"The Football League now will try to make us play on the first available date which will be 17 April.

"That means we would go to Aston Villa on a Tuesday, Norwich on the Saturday and then Derby on the Tuesday, which is another disgrace.

"If it is replayed, it should be on the 24 April after we have had a home game."

MORE FROM NEIL WARNOCK:

"I'm not overly surprised. When I heard Gary's (Rowett) remarks earlier in the week about if we can get over this weekend's injury crisis with the game then they should be all right after the break.

"I think it's a disgrace quite frankly. You look at their game against Fulham two weeks ago, if you look on the website, all of the Derby fans were saying it was 10 times worse two weeks ago. They had snow ploughs everywhere.

"I can't accept that today and it leaves a sour taste. I think it's scandalous, me.

"Now the EFL will try to force us to play on the first available date which gives us three tough away games.

"We are going to have to fight tooth and nail against that as we shouldn't be punished for something like this because it isn't our doing and I believe it's a big travesty."

Greg Halford

@GregHalford15

Need a plough to get through the snow today for the game  . Not surprised it's called off.

Paul Corky:
So pitch playable, club shop open and asking people to visit, pub next to ground welcoming people, roads clear, Cardiff fans already on their way (or there) yet Derby County and their out of form and injury hit squad call game off. Local plod not part of that decision. It stinks

Cardiff fans have also taken issue with a tweet from Derby's club shop, which has since been deleted.

It read: "Good morning #dcfcfans The game is cancelled but we are still open 10am-4pm at Pride Park and would love to see you! Make sure your drive safely!"

The account has since tweeted an apology.

The events have led to supporters calling for an investigation.

"There should be a full investigation by the EFL today regarding the postponement of the fixture with Derby," said Cardiff City Supporters' Club spokesman Vince Alm.

"An injury crisis at the club, we have supporters at the ground taking pictures of the ground and surrounding areas which look okay. There was no effort by DCFC to put the game on or the local council despite no snow since 4.00am!

"2600 plus supporters battled there way out of South Wales to get there and conditions were improving further north we went.

"A precedent was set when Middlesbrough called a game off against Blackburn a few years ago after hav(ing) a long injury list and were docked points!

"We've had a long injury list all season but battled on, its a disgrace!"

James Cottnam:

They ve really pulled a fast one here , the buses in Derby were running , their club shop was open and telling people to come down to the ground , and to top it off Leicester which is nearby played their match against Chelsea .

" The English Football League have issued a statement "

The English Football League have issued a statement to say they are satisfied with the reasons behind the decision to postpone Cardiff City's Championship clash with Derby County.

The game was called off due to snow, although confirmation of the postponement wasn't made official at 8:30am on Sunday, just three-and-a-half hours prior to the scheduled kick-off time of midday.

Fans travelling from South Wales were left furious with the decision to call off the game while Neil Warnock branded the announcement as a "disgrace" and "scandalous" .

But the EFL have stated that they accept the reasons behind the decision not to allow the fixture to go ahead.

"The decision to postpone this afternoon’s fixture between Derby County and Cardiff City was made first thing this morning following discussions between Derby County, Derbyshire Police and the local Safety Advisory Group (SAG)," a statement read.

"It was taken in the interests of spectator safety following heavy overnight snow falling in the Derby area which had built up on the roads surrounding the stadium. Cardiff City were informed of the decision and the reasons behind it as soon as it was reached.

"An announcement was made at 8.30am and the EFL is satisfied from the information shared that these were the reasons the match was postponed & will provide Cardiff City with the opportunity to provide any additional information they feel is relevant, before responding further."

Almost 3,000 fans were expected to pack out the away end at Pride Park as the Bluebirds went in search of their eighth consecutive league victory.

Despite the postponement, Warnock's men remain seven points clear of Fulham and Aston Villa while they have a game in hand over the other sides in the automatic promotion race.

A date for the rearranged game against the Rams is yet to be announced, although it is likely to be played in the week before or after the Bluebirds host Nottingham Forest at Cardiff City Stadium on April 21.

‘Dock them points’:

‘Dock them points’: Cardiff City fans react to Derby County match postponement

HITC

Monday 19th March 2018

Cardiff City fans have taken to Twitter to vent their frustration at the decision to postpone their clash with Derby County, despite there being little snow around the Pride Park area.

The game was called off around four hours prior to kick-off due to health and safety reasons, with areas of the city of Derby said to be a potential hazard to fans travelling to the game.

Cardiff boss Neil Warnock labelled the decision a disgrace, while utility man Greg Halford also stoked the fires by taking a photo of a clear-looking route outside Pride Park and displaying it on Twitter with a subtle dig.

The frustration from the Bluebirds is evident, as they came in to the encounter having won their last seven Championship games in succession, and would have been buoyed by Aston Villa and Fulham’s failure to win on Saturday.

Moreover, Derby were seemingly down to the bare bones in the midfield area, what with Joe Ledley, George Thorne and Tom Huddlestone ruled out of action, while top scorer Matej Vydra was a doubt.

Tom Huddleston of Derby County is shown a red card during the Sky Bet Championship match between Nottingham Forest and Derby County at City Ground on March 11, 2018 in Nottingham, England.

The Rams have won just one of their last nine league games, so Cardiff couldn’t have picked a better time to face them.

It’s unknown how much influence Derby, the club, had on the decision to postpone the fixture, but for boss Gary Rowett it’s a chance to regroup during the international break.

Young Cardiff City fans pose with the mascot prior to The Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round match between Cardiff City and Manchester City on January 28, 2018 in Cardiff, United Kingdom.

Cardiff, meanwhile, will look at it as a missed opportunity to put ten points between them and third-placed Fulham following the Cottagers’ 2-2 draw with West London rivals Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.

Derby said on their website:

'Derby County’s Sky Bet Championship fixture at home to Cardiff City this afternoon has been postponed'.

Following persistent heavy snowfall in Derby overnight, the surrounding areas at Pride Park Stadium have been left in an unsafe condition for supporters, staff and officials'.

Taking to Twitter, supporters of the Welsh club were furious, especially those who had safely travelled to Derby, and some have demanded the EFL take action against the playoff hopefuls.

Dock them points will save them being embarrassed by dropping out altogether at least they'll have an excuse then

Reported that the safer advisory group postponed game? But they themselves do not have the power to call game off! Police didn't referee didn't so only leaves club themselves telling the powers to be that it was unsafe yet no one outside that club thought there was an issue regarding safety certainly not local authorities as everything basically was open except pride park? The efl were to quick to support derby without knowing full picture, it's now been shown the decision to postpone game was wrong and derby have benefited whilst other clubs below them have seen a possible slip up by derby gone. :old:
