The Norwich v Cardiff City player ratings as Junior Hoilett dazzles but Gary Madine's struggles continue
By Tom Coleman

Neil Etheridge 7

A typically calm and composed performance from the Cardiff City number one, although he was admittedly never truly tested

Lee Peltier 7

Assured defensively and had a couple of lively moments going forward. Not exactly a stand out performance, but solid enough.

Sean Morrison (capt) 8

Was once again a colossus at the back, winning more in the air than anyone else on the pitch. Stepped up marvellously well when Bamba left proceedings.

Sol Bamba 8

Made several crucial interventions to deny the hosts before going off and was the scourge of Dennis Srbeny in particular. An impressive half an hour

Joe Bennett 7

Was so often a crucial link between defence and attack. Was caught out of position a few times, but was Cardiff's best passer of the ball by a mile.

Aron Gunnarsson 7

Looked to be back to his old self in the first half, but ran out of steam after the break. Didn't quite gave the level of command in the centre of the park that so many Cardiff fans have been used to. Some encouraging signs, though.

Craig Bryson 7

Worked very hard in the centre of the park, but struggled to get any kind of reward. Linked up well with Gary Madine and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing

Loic Damour 7

Really got in the face of Norwich. Didn't let the likes of James Maddison settle for a moment. Performance perhaps lacked the quality required for higher mark, but his desire should still be applauded.

Junior Hoilett 9 (Star man)

Worked his socks off all afternoon on the left-hand side and, alongside Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, gave the Norwich defence it's fair share of headaches. Took his goal incredibly well.

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing 8

Make no mistake, Mendez-Laing is back to his best. Another brilliant attacking peformance.

Gary Madine 6

A first goal continues to elude the striker and, barring one second-half chance, there wasn't much sign of that changing. Held the ball up well at times, but you can tell confidence is very low.

Subs

Bruno Manga (35 mins) - Gave his team a couple of scares, but recovered well to put in a decent performance 6

Callum Paterson (45 mins) - Threw himself about well enough, but not his best showing 6

Kenneth Zohore (72 mins) - Came on and instantly appeared to give Cardiff more of an attacking edge. Took his goal well and arguably changed the game 8
