There's videos on social media of it kicking off with a Roma firm and reports of a Liverpool fan being knifed

Watching the video clips and judging by the media reports this was premeditated violence caused by the Italians. I suggest they are the ones who should be kicked out. The levels of violence outside of Britain are on far higher scales than we are used to and it's getting to be the norm now for foreign ultras to come over here and routinely attack our supporters. Watch out for the number of Liverpool supporters who will be stabbed and beaten in the return leg.

Yes of course it was the Italians that caused it all

Pre-planned violence, using various weapons, knives, baseball bats etc. They often wear crash helmets. A few years ago they carried out an attack on some Tottenham fans, who were over for a Europa League game with SS Lazio. The Spurs fans were scarfers and shirters, having a late night drink in a bar. Nearby is a Roma bar, who tipped the ultras off. They blocked the doors, and attacked, hospitalising several Tottenham fans. About as cowardly as you get. Roma were not even playing!
AS Roma fans seem to hit soft targets, like this middle aged man last night. When Feyenoord arrived in Rome in large numbers, they were nowhere to be seen. Same with Real Madrid.
Not all Italian fans are like this. Italian a ultras are no angels, (anymore than we are!), but you never really hear about this from other groups, just AS Roma.
The Italian OB, (the polizia and carabinieri), don't mess about either.
I might be biased, but I used to watch SS Lazio out there. Much more civilised.
Hopefully the Liverpool fan will recover, and the AS Roma fans will get the book thrown at them.

The hammer is brand new, he’s obviously bought it over here.

Mind you Napoli are no angels, I'm sure you'd agree

I certainly do agree! Naples is run by the Camorra, the city is outside of the control of the Italian state. The Camorra control everything, right down to parking around the San Paolo stadium. The Napoli ultras are, basically, the Mafia. Most of the rest of Italy hate them, certainly both Rome clubs do.
