Budget - How much?

Sat May 12, 2018 6:55 am

How much does everyone think NW will be given

I’m thinking £20m budget - on top of who we release from this seasons team

Re: Budget - How much?

Sat May 12, 2018 8:01 am

I would say £30 million on transfer fees and another 3/4 million on loan fees which should mean we will make a profit on the season

What I would really like to see if there is anything left in the budget is for us to buy 3 or 4 Youngsters 18/19 year olds from Div 1/2 or non league maybe spend £500/£1 million on each and loan them straight out...let's plan for the future

Re: Budget - How much?

Sat May 12, 2018 8:04 am

Yeah £30mill maximum I'd say.

Re: Budget - How much?

Sat May 12, 2018 9:18 am

£20m on transfers and also money on upping the wages on players he’s going to retain.

Re: Budget - How much?

Sat May 12, 2018 11:40 am

Don't n3ed to spend big on fees get some top quality loans in

Re: Budget - How much?

Sat May 12, 2018 11:41 am

I’d say we need 6 players with a 30mil budget

Wolves are going to spend well over 60-70 Mil ain’t they after butland for over 20mil already

Re: Budget - How much?

Sat May 12, 2018 2:48 pm

My heart and naïve optimism says 30-40m but my head says between 20-30m.

Re: Budget - How much?

Sat May 12, 2018 2:52 pm

My Opinion, We will have to bring in at least 8 quality players.

100% We need a prolific striker.

I honestly believe if Cardiff want to stay up in the Premier League, £40mill at least must be spent and that will be Neil Warnock working his magic :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

If we spent £40mill, then if our club is finally run proffesionally off the field, we will be able to pay of large parts of our debts :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Re: Budget - How much?

20 to 30m on transfers fees.

The key will be getting the best of the free transfers again.

Re: Budget - How much?

How much did Huddersfield spend to stay up?

Re: Budget - How much?

Sat May 12, 2018 3:11 pm

Warnock has always done well with a smaller budget. Look at the players that he’s brought in so far. All the ones under a million have done wonders while Madine still needs to find the net and Tomlin was loaned out. The only two positions that we should spend big on are the center forward(s) and central midfielders IMO

They spent loads and not too wisely either imo.

Plenty of attacking options that have had limited impact

Also I think malone cost them 5m

Re: Budget - How much?

I asked the question because, like most, I thought I would try to assess the likely side next season.

Using the Player Value on Transfermkt and the wages on FM 2018 - (I know not always accurate) - I have put together the following:

Players to Keep
N.Etheridge
L.Peltier
J.Bennett
S.Morrison
B.Manga
J.Richards
S.Bamba
M.Connolly
C.Patterson
J.Ralls
K.Harris
A.Pilkington
A.Gunnarson
N.Mendez-Laing
L.Damour
J.Hoilett
D.Ward
K.Zahore
G.Madine

Release List - Either by Way of Contract/Loan/Not Required
B.Murphy
C.Konopka
G.Halford
A.Traore
L.Feeney
C.Bryson
M.Grujic - (Although would like back on loan - but think he will be a squad player with Liverpool)
M.Harris
F.Gounongbe
I.Meite
J.Ward
Y.Wildshut
L.Camp
L.Tomlin
S.O'Keefe
M.Kennedy
O.Bogle
R.Healey

On top of the £30m War Chest the release of these players would save £8,060,000 salary - So have £38m

I would look to bring in the following - Name - Fee - Salary
J.Robles - Out of Contract - £20k p/w
W.Hennessy - Out of Contract - £40k p/w
Stephen Ward - Out of Contract - £28k p/w
Ryan Fredericks - Out of Contract - £20k p/w
James McArthur - Out of Contract - £50k p/w
Josh Windass - £3,000,000 - £25k p/w
Niklas Fulkragg - £8,000,000 - £50k p/w
Andre Grey - £6,000,000 - £70k p/w

So £17m spent on transfers and an extra £17.7m spent on salaries gives £34.7m

So still have around £4m available - (Or £14m if the budget was £40m)

Just some thoughts :bluescarf:

Re: Budget - How much?

Sat May 12, 2018 4:37 pm

I prefer to spend less and clear the debt.... Buy enough quality that would get us back if if we go down

Re: Budget - How much?

Sat May 12, 2018 5:01 pm

i hope we don’t go down the high wages route again.
took us years to recover last time.
20-25 million would be a reasonable budget.

Re: Budget - How much?

Sat May 12, 2018 5:05 pm

I don't think we'll get away with much less than £40k and then that's only getting the bare minimum.

Re: Budget - How much?

Sat May 12, 2018 5:10 pm

These are just some thoughts from someone who was bored earlier lol.

On looking at other "mid table" clubs most seemed to have around 28 players - although possibly only 25 can be named in the PL squad (I think)

So I got rid of the loans. Of those whose contracts expire in 2018 I would only extend Gunarsson and Hoilett. Harsh I know but have to be.

The searched the Bosman availability. I took the view that its ok to pay higher wages because you are saving a transfer fee and also locking in a future transfer fee. For Example Wayne Hennessy. Signed free on a Bosman. £40,000 pw is only £2m per year - and we have a £4m player for that - (or a player we could sell for £3-4m and recoup our money).

Ive only sought to spend transfer fees on 3-4 players.

Could this side keep us up? 3 decent strikers (Zohore, German guy and Andre Gray)

Re: Budget - How much?

Believe that we spent around 45m in the summer the last time that we were promoted.

I would like to think that we would spend 35-40m on quality rather than quantity. Think the board will have confidence in Neil Warnock’s targets.

Agree I think we need 4 quality first team starters,2 midfielders and two strikers/wingers

People talking about Andre gray and he is Watford’s record signing.

Likely to cost at least 12m I think

Yep, nothing wrong with players from relegated clubs as long as they are the right ones

Leicster tried for walace brazilian 2 seasons ago but missed out hope we have an overseas scout who knows his stuff

Re: Budget - How much?

I know it sounds nuts but I'd prefer to get the finances sorted and then get loans and freebies in.
I wouldn't mind being a debt-free yo-yo club. We would get stronger each year.

Potentially a loan? He doesn't seem to fit and they won't get the money back. A good season elsewhere might push his price back up.

It happens clubs take huge losses all the time. Look at us and Cornelius.
