For the first time in their history, Hamburg (HSV) were relegated to the 2nd tier of the Bundesliga. Their 2:1 win over M'Gladbach meant nothing, as relegation rivals Wolfsburg won over Köln 3:1.
Before the referee could blow the final whistle, Hamburg Ultras used several flares, smoke bombs and other material to provoke the officials to abandon the match.
It's got to be said, that 95% of HSV supporters behaved impeccably and applauded their team, which almost pulled another miracle in staying up.
Hamburg were on the brink of relegation on numerous occasions over the last 5 years. They always managed to stay up with lots of luck...
not this time...
