The Eagles midfielder has been the subject of speculation over his future in recent weeks, with talk of interest from his boyhood club Rangers, newly-promoted Cardiff City and Championship play-off finalists Aston Villa.

But the 30-year-old, who has two years remaining on his contract at Palace, has brushed off suggestions that he could move on this summer - and made a bold statement about his future.

“I am not bothered, I am a Palace player and I love it here," the former Hamilton Academical and Wigan Athletic man said.

“I want to stay here and I would love to finish my career here, I love it.

“It is a great bunch of boys, the fans are amazing, and the manager and everyone around the club has been brilliant since I stepped into the place.

“And I would love to be here for the next numerous years."

McArthur has enjoyed a fine season at Palace, making 35 appearances and scoring seven goals in all competitions, taking his tally to 16 goals in 130 appearances for the Eagles since joining in 2014.

And the Scottish international says that it has been a good year for him personally, and for the team, with McArthur picking out his own highlight from the campaign.

“Playing as much, really. Last year I didn’t play as much as I would have liked under Sam Allardyce, but this year to play the number of games that I have and I’ve added a few more goals to my game as well, so I am happy," he said.

“This year I have got eight goals, one for Scotland, two in the league cup and five in the league, so I am really happy with that.

“But I think a lot of people have had good seasons. You look at the top three in the player of the year and it shows the quality in the club, because they have been instrumental."

And he says that he hopes Palace can now build on the end to the season, with the Eagles finishing in 11th place, having started the campaign with seven straight defeats.

But McArthur has highlighted what is needed to help the Eagles to push on, adding that it is essential to keep top players like Wilfried Zaha, in addition to having a good summer transfer window in terms of recruitment.

“It is important, but it is important to mainly keep the players that we have got here," he said.

“There is going to be interest, especially in players like [Wilfried] Zaha, and it would be amazing to get Ruben [Loftus-Cheek] back if we could, because he has been instrumental.

“He got injured and we missed him, but if we can keep the main squad together and add a couple of players, we could be very strong next year."
