James Collins has confirmed he will be leaving West Ham this summer and says he is "heartbroken" by his exit from the club.

The 34-year-old is coming to the end of his current contract and seemingly bid farewell to the Hammers fans following their final day 3-1 win over Everton earlier this month.

Sky Sports News understands Collins was informed by the West Ham board over 10 days ago that it was unlikely he would be offered fresh terms to remain, but the final judgement would be made by the club's new manager Manuel Pellegrini.

The former Wales international was omitted from West Ham's retained list which was sent to the Premier League on Saturday and he is now set to become the first player to leave since Pellegrini took charge.

In a post released on his official Instagram page, Collins said: "As it stands I will be leaving West Ham on June 30th... Heartbroken.
