You seem like a reasonably sensible poster normally, poor unhelpful comment that in the context of things, you know it is not as cut and dry as that.

I hope the OP gets the help he needs, I started gambling after my father died, more than anything it filled time and took my mind off things, but it is a slippery slope to disaster for some people.

Ultimately, its down to the individual but that 'line' is fine to anybody else, but pretty useless to an addict.

I HATE that gimmicky tagline.

It was produced by a gambling firm who are just paying lip service to a real serious problem that they feed for profit.

A totally obvious phrase that doesn't assist those in real danger of losing everything.

Yourself and others who find the above words - Not doing anything but being cheap words are probably correct.
There is another side to this as well - The staff who have to put up with abuse, violence, name calling, bulling etc..
Day in day out i see the changes to this job, from the one i signed up to 30 years ago ( it's not the same job ).
Where the problem lies is - when customers self exclude - what plan is put in place to help them ??
I have only spoken to 1 person in 30 years who was offered help/took it and was open to tell me ( that's shocking )
Let's hope the Goverment's review is a start to help people but just 1 major rehab in this country needs to be addressed.

Mate with the greatest of respect, whilst everything you have just said is valid, its totally irrelevant in the context of this thread, which is not about me, or you, or the rights or wrongs of gambling but purely about Wolfpac and getting him the help/support he needs to beat his demons.

Hi all, just a heads up on my situation, I spent last week with my Daughter, needed a few days break from the norm with her, spent it down west with my mates and their kids in a caravan, it was lovely, surprised at how nice Tenby is considering it’s not that far from Scumsea ha-ha. Anyway when I got home, I was surprised to find I have had a tax rebate for £350, this combined with my overtime that I did for May has meant I could pay off my payday loans earlier than expected which I have since done (these were loans taken out for gambling), the only outstanding debt I have are 2 credit cards totalling £1200 which I aim to pay off £100 per month each. I am having a meeting tomorrow with a councillor in work but I haven’t felt the need to gamble this last week, I am feeling mentally prepared and willing to get my act together.

Thanks to everybody who listened, shared their stories and commented, it has really helped.

I gamble, with set limits. This is a decent option.

1)Set up a basic bank account without any overdraft. 2)Transfer majority of wage to the missus who runs the household.

Remainder is yours. Doesn't stop the addiction but stops any damage. Best of luck mate, well done for thinking of change.

One thing which i personally found important (not that it will mean much to anyone else) is that i realised when i was pissing away a lot of money on slots and bookies is that i would never ever stop, even after winning cash.
It seems to be chasing a big win or whatever but in reality if your chasing that feeling you will just keep on gambling, which was deffo the case with me.

Massive respect for making a thread on this but I would suggest limiting every single account which is available to you online, and also self excluding yourself everywhere near you. It's a serious addiction akin to class A's (in the sense of which parts of your brain are used and stimulated) and getting the possibility of gambling as far away as possible is always a good step.

Can't really give much advice as it's still sometimes a problem for me as well, but if you ever want a chat about it PM me for my number bro.

Well done Scott and good luck with your continued battle.

I've only ever known one gambler and that was in the early 80s. He turned to Christianity and managed to over come it. Fruit machines were his downfall and although I never saw him in action the testimonies I heard scared the living daylights out of me. He would quite easily lose a weeks wages within half an hour on those machines. His Christian makes would say it was like the devil getting hold of him.

He really got into the church and married one of the girls there. I played squash with him and he would tell me all about his church life and his background. I just got the impression that what resolved him was his obsession of the church over the fruit machine. I had the feeling he needed to stick with the church else he would be back to square one.

If you've tried to stop and you can't, it's an addiction. Best to kick it now before it gets out of hand. Gambling is a mugs game and for many complete abstinence from it is the only way...

Well done mate, you could also take out a new credit card and transfer the balance to that with zero interest to save some money, then it may be a good idea to cancel the old one and the new one when you've paid it off. I would imagine the less money you can get hold of the less temptation to use them in the future. Good luck with it

I'm not sure of Wolfpac financial situation but there is an organisation called Step Debt or something like that who organing the freezing of all interest rates on any loan. of course it depends on your incomings and your ability to pay but I know a few who have had their interests frozen including their debt.
