Just seen this tweet about us going in for Luke Ayling for 4m. This isn't an official source, just thought i'd post to see what people think.

I think this would be us paying over the odds, plus there are better right backs out there surely?

If this has substance then the signs are looking good.
No nonsense defender, but the best part for me is that the club are prepared to spend a bit of money.
£4m for a RB means that the budget could be reasonably healthy for the other signings.

Liked the look of him when he's played us, has a bit of a temper to his play, I like that about a player, an old school feel to it.

I thought he was their best player whilst playing at Centre Back last season, until his injury and was one of the main reasons for their good start to the season.

So given his age and versatility, I'd say £4 million represents very good value at this level!

Luke Ayling joined Leeds from Bristol City in August 2016

Leeds United defender Luke Ayling has been ruled out for the rest of the season after having ankle surgery.

The 26-year-old suffered an injury in the 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest on New Year's Day.

The former Bristol City player made 30 appearances in all competitions for Thomas Christensen's side this season.

Meanwhile, the Elland Road side are closing in on a deal to sign Club Brugge left-back Laurens de Bock, 25, BBC Radio Leeds understands.

but i think Sam Byram (especially now West Ham has signed fredericks) would be the better signing.

Not sure if he's any good but in Warnock we trust ,I know one thing we will sign players who are 100percemt committed to the club

Agreed, I don't see Ayling as adding much over Peltier. In fact, Peltier is probably the better defender.

I'm not convinced about this link. Not least because I think if we're looking for a more forward thinking defender then Jazz Richards, if fit, might prove to be up to the job.

Greg is versatile can play at CB as well, spent a lot of last season in CB role, be good to have options at the back, I do like that Preston winger, Tom Barkhuizen, he looks a tidy midfielder.

One of those players I’ve never liked, comes across as a tosser. I’ll give him a chance if he signs but I’d rather not sign him.

Couldn’t agree more. Nowhere near as good as Richards or Peltier. Thought he was a tidy enough player for Yeovil in League 1, but he’s been severely exposed at Championship level with his poor defending, rash decision making and lack of distribution.
