Cardiff City Manager Looking To Reunite With His Former Player: Just The Man Warnock Needs?

Cardiff City are looking to reinforce their squad as they prepare for life in the Premier League. They are being linked with a move for Robert Snodgrass who spent a season on loan with Aston Villa. Since his move to West Ham United, he has failed to break into the first team at the Olympic stadium and it remains to be seen whether Manuel Pellegrini will give him a chance to prove himself before the beginning of the next season.

The Bluebirds want him on loan but the Hammers will be willing to let go of the player who they value at £12m. There is no concrete offer on the table yet but it is expected that Neil Warnock will make a move for him in the coming weeks.

The Scottish international joined the Hammers for a fee of £10.2million from Hull City in January 2017 and the player hasn’t got enough chances to prove his worth at the East London club. He spent the entire 2017-18 season on loan and was a crucial part in Aston villa’s push for promotion in the Premier League which ended in a heartbreak as they lost the playoff finals.

Neil Warnock has previously worked with Snodgrass and he is one of his biggest advocates. They were together at Leeds United in 2012 and Warnock has often shown regret when he let the player go for £3m to Norwich City.

It’s being reported that Manuel Pellegrini will be willing to give Snodgrass a chance as he looks to build a formidable team for the next season.

The Scotsman made 43 appearances in all competitions last season and scored 8 goals and provided a further thirteen assists. He is left-footed but prefers playing down the right wing as an inverted winger. That way he gets a chance to cut outside and affect the play from more central positions on the pitch. Snodgrass is known for his dead ball capabilities and is a big threat for opponents during set-piece situations.

He is known for his tremendous work ethic as he often helps his team defensively as well. He will certainly be a good addition to Cardiff city but they might be susceptible in bringing a 30-year-old for a £12m price. A loan move will probably be more practical for the Bluebirds as they look to strengthen their attacking options for the upcoming challenges of the Premier League.
