Billy Jones, Marc Wilson and Kazenga LuaLua have been released by Sunderland, following the news of Fabio Borini and Jeremain Lens’ transfers away from the club.
The Black Cats, relegated from the Sky Bet Championship last season, announced their retained list on Thursday and there were few surprises.
John O’Shea has already agreed a deal at Reading, while it was confirmed that Borini will sign permanently for AC Milan and Lens for Besiktas.
Youngsters Tom Beadling, Jean-Yves Poame, Josh Robson, James Talbot and Daniel Wright are also leaving.
