Grenfell who's next?

Thu Jun 07, 2018 1:29 pm

London fire brigade are to be investigated by the met for breaching h&s rules by not evacuating the building at the time! So does this mean they will not issue advise in future in case they are liable! :o

The "stay put" policy is being investigated not London fire brigade. The policy is put in by the building owners.
Their is criticism that the fire brigade had no other alternative plan but it's been proven that for the first part of the fire the policy was correct. It's after the panels caught alight it was no good. The fire brigade didn't know about the panels.

According to news report it states lfb being investigated regarding their advice to stay put? May not have policy but clearly the lfb told people to say put for at least 30mins after alarm raised,
that's why lfb being investigated by the met and it comes under h&s apparently.

Its a shambles from top to bottom, and people need to be held accountable.

RIP to the 70 that sadly passed on.

This kind of thing should not be happening in 2017.

I watched the documentary last night and can't believe they said at the end that something like 279 high rise buildings in the UK still have the same cladding that Grenfell had  :?

No it shouldn't and simple solution is to have separate lift & stairs from main block in separate tower for all new tower blocks :old:

This is who was next to be investigated...…………………….https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-44396514

9 people arrested on alleged fraud offences relating to claims for housing support and support of other kinds.

A real shame if people have tried to profit on the back of such a tragedy.

It was protocol for the firefighters to tell the people to stay in the building, if the building wasn't constructed with one staircase for an exit maybe it wouldn't have been so bad, the cladding may as well been paper covered in petrol, the design is to blame and that's that.

As I said it's not the fire brigade being investigated this is from the media below:

"Grenfell: Met Police investigating 'stay put' policy used by London Fire Brigade during blaze"

"
The LFB has been criticised for taking two hours to abandon the policy as the flames spread.

"But officials said the advice is set by the building owners, not the fire service, meaning it accords with the design specifications and escape capabilities."

The stay put polici is the responsibility of the fire brigade, as this information was given to occupiers by LFB, and not the building owners. This policy is quite common in residential care homes and some hospitals, as there is no way these buildings can be evacuated quickly enough.

As stated above and said in the enquiry it's set by building owners at design stage.

Yes maybe set by owners but separate news reports clearly state met looking at LFB actions into evacuation by way of H&S laws, so why are they doing that if not brigades responsiblity? Enquiry also questioned brigade delaying evacuation when they knew after 30mins it was wrong decision so why criticise LFB for the evacuation time? There must be some element of LFB possibly being in the wtong! Or are news reports wrong saying met investigsting LFB role in evacuation?

It may be set by the building owners but the Fire Services Act, allows fire brigades to supersede any policies, advice etc, in the event of a fire

The government couldn't give a fuk about the type of people who you would normally associated to be living in tower blocks. i.e People on benefits or immigrants in most cases especially in London.

Find me any quote where they say they are investigating LFB. I've shown you quotes where they are investigating the policy used by LFB.
