Halford got a lot of stick but did the job which was asked of him almost every time he got onto the field. Never a silky skilful player but could do a job when required as he proved on many occasions when helping to see out a game.

Good luck to him.

Glad Murphy has been offered a new contract but must surely be as a third choice? If so, he is an excellent third choice keeper and if we did have injuries to our first two choice we wouldn't end up with another Dimi, Stuart Taylor or god forbid, Bywater! :o :o

CCFC PLAYERS RELEASED.

Greg Halford will leave the Club at the end of June, along with Matthew Kennedy, Ben Wilson, Rhys Abbruzzese, Ogo Obi and Connor Young. Scholars, Alfie Madden, Keiron Proctor and Cai Williams will also depart.

Quite gutted for Halford but wish him all the best.

Looks like goalkeeper isn't on the list of transfers then.

Thought Ogo Obi had something about him surprised to see him on the list.
I will.

Ogo didn’t settle. There’s been a couple of problems with him. Same happened at Watford. He’s got bags of talents but yeah.....

Good luck to Halford, did his job well when called upon.

I can only assume that Murphy would be third choice goalkeeper, as I can see us bringing in someone else to compete with Etheridge.

Looking likely that Hoilett will sign which we need, personally I wouldn’t be too disappointed if Gunnarsson didn’t sign.

Good luck to all the young players who have been released. History shows we have made mistakes in releasing players of that age in the past.

One person that does not appear on either list, Frederic Gounongbe.

What has happened to him? it's almost like all the staff at the club have completely forgotten about him.

Not signing Eddie Johnson for another season was a mistake.

How do you work that out on the goalkeeper situation, that surely means Murphy will be second choice and we will have a youngster from DVP, goalkeeper will not be brought in judging the Murphy contract.
I will.

There was that kid I remember Man city signed from us but that was out of our hands.
I can't remember another though.

There was Regan Poole who ended up signing for United but nothing to suggest he is good enough yet.

Retained list shows 22 players, add Murphy and Cunningham to that gives you 24.
Club allowed to submit list of 24, so bringing another 3/4 players in means selling/loaning out 3/4 players.
Who should be sold on/loaned out ?
Camp seems an obvious one and replace with someone decent as cover for Etheridge.
Tomlin needs to be sold on.
O'Keefe will probably go back out on loan.
I'd imagine NW will keep Connolly in squad as cover now Halfords gone.
Who would you let go out on loan or even sell on ??

Just noticed, list of 22 doesn't include 3 who are yet to renew, so gonna be quite a few sold on/loaned out if new signings are in the offing.

forgot about him...hit the floor running at Man Utd but spent last year at Northampton on loan...might yet turn out to be a mistake leaving him go but if league 1 turns out to be his level it isnt..

I've been trying to forget the clown since he left us.

Unfortunately as we played Burton twice last season I was reminded of his incompetence.

I think he has to be "retained" because he is still under contract to us.

Hopefully someone will take him off our hands but I have a horrible feeling that he might end up being our number 2 next season (or hopefully number 3 if Murphy stays) butI really hope we're seriously looking to get rid of Camp.

Exactly right, this is just people who aren't being offered new deals.

Pilks has one more year

Armand Traore gone back to Forest then?

I know a few people saying he was loaned, a few people said we got him as a free agent. Either way, he's not on the list now!

Nearly all our released players are in lower leagues but as already mentioned Regan Poole went to Man United and recently there were reports about Tom James being linked with Swansea and Celtic.

100000000% loan. It’s never been quoted that we signed him permanently so I don’t know where people got this from
