His dead ball delivery is probably the best i have seen from any british player other than David Beckham. Shame he didnt have a bit more pace and strength he could have been a top premier league player

At his best was absolutely magnificent for us and if we'd won that play off final against Blackpool and gone up I think he could have been great in the Premier League.
There's a youtube video of some of his best goals for us (can't do links I'm afraid) and some of them are absolutely brilliant.
Also the best penalty taker I've seen for us in over 45 years.
Sad that his powers were on the wane by the time he left us and he would never have fitted into last season's team but I really enjoyed watching Whitts in his prime - a definite City legend.

A true servant to us and what a player he would have been if he had pace. His last season with us wasn't his best, but that season he finished as top scorer he was virtually unplayable and scored some fantastic goals.

This is a joke right...? If he played for us last year we prob wouldn't have even gone up. our midfield was lacking pace at the best of times. Put lateral Whitts into the mix and we would have created nowt.
Come on, the guy was great in his day, as were a lot of players - but to actually even want him around the squad now is a big no no!

You misunderstand what is being said chief - a Whitts in his prime was mentioned, not Whitts as the player he is now.
So many of those goals were scored from distance - that is an incredibly hard thing to do, and he did for many, many years. I for one count myself very lucky to have seen him play for the City.
My father missed the cup final in 1927 as my grandad only had 2 tickets, and my Dad had an older brother!

Whitts was awesome, class footballer who had natural ability. Lacked a yard of pace and a real hunger in his belly that would've made him a top too player. One of the best players for City in the last 50 years. He also spent 10 years here when we had really great times, trips to Wembley and the first promotion.
