BRENTFORD REJECT BID
16/06/18
Sky sources understand Brentford have rejected a £10m offer from Bournemouth for Chris Mepham.
We understand the offer was not close to the Bees’ valuation of the player. Brentford rejected a £5.5m offer from Bournemouth for Mepham in January.

He’s our next Ashley Williams in the Welsh team but we won’t sign him as despite being the Capital of Wales we don’t sign Welshmen!

We should not have to buy Welshmen just cos we are Welsh. Players need to be right. More than. 10m on a centre back? Think about it

Exactly the sort of player we should be looking at. Bags of potential and rated very highly at Brentford. If he thrives in the PL then his value will double in a season.

Quite agree. Why constrain ourselves to a tiny market? Next thing you'll hear is we should be buying players who were born in Cardiff!

If we did sign up the Welsh team we’d certainly stay in the Premiership, Bale,Ramsey,Allen etc?

They will be wanting even more for Ryan Woods. Maybe that’s why we haven’t gone in for him, he’s out of our price range?
Mepham strikes me as a John Stones type of player. Quite pacey, decent on the ball but can’t defend. He lost Zohore for our third goal there and he isn’t physically strong enough to cope with a big target man. His positioning and concentration needs work as well. Brentford had so many draws last season because they threw points away from wining positions and Mepham was partially the reason imo.

If we signed up the German team we'd probably win it
