English commentators are comedy gold. Too hot for the English players, referee missing all the Tunisian fouls, England never get the rub of the green etc., etc. Almost like watching repeats of nearly every tournament since 1966.

Well done England. Decent performance and great finish.
I’m surprised there was that many England fans there given the hooligan potential and foreign office warnings.
Who needs Cantona, when we’ve got Stantona?

Once the knockouts start I'd expect loads more will go over hoping to get tickets. Can't blame them for not travelling in big numbers this early in the tournament.

Pussy fans indeed and a team full of pussies - oh look we had the easiest qualifying group ever and we've beaten the footballing giants of ...... Tunisia. Fek off Lineker and Shearer- another pair of foreign PUSSIES.

Great balanced poduction from the EBC last night.
4 ex-English players in the studio and one on commentary.
I know they are going to struggle to get a Tunisian legend but at least have one neutral for balance.
(And before any Dic Sion Dafydd gives me heaps, it drives me nuts when Welsh commentators have no balance in their opinions)

Would have been good to at least have had a neutral expert on the panel so that we could listen to a balanced view on the match. Sounds to me like England have more or less got this World Cup wrapped up again, just like they have in every other World Cup they have played in. Should'nt complain too much though, listening to Ian Walsh and his views is just as painfully one sided. I think if England or Wales lost 10-0, the pundits would blame the ref or an offside goal for the defeat.

i did think last nights studio views were rediculous...England deserved to win ,should have had 2 pens no arguements but looked laboured at the back trying to pass the ball around { for the sake of it } missed lots of chances and eventually got a winner very late against a poor team..
i thought they might be dark horses to win it ..but not after last nights showing

Agree, the English commentators were making every excuse under the sun for the poor performance - we had the old "it's too hot for the players", "Tunisia are sat so deep they are cancelling England out" followed up 2 mins later with "Tunisia have pushed so far up the field England are forced to play it long"

And that's the risk of not having a neutral. It becomes an echo chamber of opinion and they spiral into becoming unrealistically positive or negative.

Good grief, I was wrong all along. I didn't realize Lineker and Shearer were foreign. I always thought they were British. I thought they both played at some time for England; I must have dreamt it: maybe they played for Madagascar.
