Dzyuba - Russia

Postby davo1974 » Tue Jun 19, 2018 7:38 pm

Did anyone else hear on 5 live earlier, previewing the Russia
v Egypt game, talking about the big Russian Centre forward
Who just scored, the commentator said he would be amazed
If Neil Warnock didn’t try and sign him for Cardiff City.

He said he is exactly the sort of player Warnock loves, think
He plays for Zenit St Petersburg, but has been on loan.

He looks a bit of a beast, don’t know how old he is?

I mentioned him as being perfect for us after their first game on Friday. Got told he has an attitude problem - I quite like his attitude which seems to be put the ball in the oppositions net at all costs...

He started for Russia against us in the Euros and he was absolute shit.

He’s looked decent against two teams who can’t defend. Let’s see how he performs against Uruguay’s rock solid commanding centre backs of Godin and Gimenez - then would be a fair time to judge him.

Looks a good player and would suit us down to the ground, would tan view it as a cornelious type signing though and too much of a gamble?

Good point but all players have off days - will be interested to see how he fares against decent centre backs too

Never going to happen he will be on silly wages in Russia as all the “big name” Russian players are because the clubs are required to play Russian players meaning that they know they can drive their wage demands up.

Trying to combat the underrating of our own players and overestimating of other teams on this board

I'm sure this was the kid who was labelled to be Russia's big name youngster a few tournaments ago, who never really lived up to the hype, the Russian league is very poor, owners used the clubs to launder their dirty money and realised they could make more money via the champions league which resulted in Russian clubs throwing big big money on foreign players. then the Russian FA, put a limit on foreign players so there became a huge rush to buy as many Russian born players as quick as they could which then led to huge wages being offered. this also had a knock on effect in regards to the talent of some of the Russians as loads who otherwise wouldn't of made it where given deals at clubs.
