' Marko Grujic update '

The hunt to sign Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic has revved up as Cardiff City, AC Milan, Lazio, Fulham and Atalanta are all keen on the player, according to Goal.

Wednesday 20th June 2018

The football website state that the Bluebirds are leading the race to sign the 6ft 3in tall (Source: Transfermarkt) midfielder on loan with AC Milan and Lazio both registering an interest in signing him on a permanent basis.
Goal report that Atalanta are interested in signing Grujic on loan with Fulham being in contact to ask to be kept informed of developments regarding the player.

It is believed that talks have already taken place with Cardiff about a move and that the Reds are unlikely to consider selling him for anything less than £10million, which is double the amount they paid for him.

Good move for Liverpool?

It’s a good move if a loan exit is sanction and that does seem the most likely situation based on this report.

Goal claim that the Reds want him to work on the defensive side of his game and would like him to find a club in the Premier League to do that with.

This implies that they are only keen on letting him go out on a temporary basis to improve in order for him to return a better player capable of playing in Jurgen Klopp’s first-team.

Grujic only managed to make three Premier League appearances for the Reds in their 2017/18 campaign and was starved of chances before being loan out to Cardiff City in January.

While in the Championship he seem to flourish as he was getting regular football and Klopp needs to ensure he gets lots of playing time next season in order to continue his development.

Live 4 Liverpool rating: 6/10

Likely to happen?

A loan exit seems very likely as the giant midfielder won’t get to regularly kick a ball at Anfield in the upcoming season.

It’s unlikely that AC Milan or Lazio would be willing to stump up a fee above £10million to get the Reds to even consider selling him, so it’s safe to say his permanent exit is off the cards for now.

However as this report shares there are some new contenders for his signature, it seems the pursuit of him is just starting to ramp up as club realise he could be available to sign.

Although with Neil Warnock’s side already holding talks about him it seems likely that he will end up playing his football with them once again.

Not sure if this will happen or not

It was quite interesting that he flew back to the UK from Serbia to take part in the promotion parade with the rest of the squad

Marko Grujic

AC Milan have joined the race for Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic, according to reports.

The Serbian international, who is away on World Cup duty at the moment, has previously been linked with another loan spell with Cardiff City

Goal’s Neil Jones says that although Cardiff are in pole position to sign Grujic on loan again, Italian giants Milan would like a permanent deal, with Lazio, Atalanta and Fulham also keen on his services.

Definitely one to keep an eye on.

There’s not is there. It’s quite possible that we could reloan a player we had last season.

I can see him returning with another agreement of how many games he must play minimum. Also recall clause etc

It'd been discussed with Liverpool before he signed that he'd never played 3 games in a week before and he needed working on as it may be too much for him. Liverpool were happy with the game time he got.

so he was left out due to fatigue
no doubt he got taken off at Hull not because he was on a one man mission to leave us with 10 men but because 35 minutes might be too much too.
he wernt a bad player but really didnt suit how we played always had a card or 2 in his locker and clearly NW lost patience..

He had a 14 game minimum and Liverpool felt he wasn't up to 3 games in a week given he'd barely played 90 minutes before joining us. It was well documented at the time. If you want to laugh at fatigue so be it I'm just putting up what was said by both parties when he signed and why both clubs would still be happy should Cardiff try to get him on loan....he was looked after here.

That doesn't answer the question. It wasn't the odd game if I remember correctly he hardly played in any of the closing games.

He had a few decent games but was bang average in most. I’m hoping we don’t bring him back.

I would be happy with him on loan rather than signing him. Liverpool may consider loaning until January as they got caught a bit short last year, and see how they have progressed in European and the Carabao Cup.

He has a decent physical presence to break things up and winning aerial challenges, but he is a liability if a ref takes against the physical part of his game. Warnock was right to be frustrated with him at Hull and take him off at half time after coming on as a sub, but he can still do job for us as long as Liverpool are realistic about how many games they insist he plays..

he enjoyed his time down here, Liverpool would favour a loan to us than sell to the Italians. Have to wait until Serbia get knocked out of World Cup before anything agreed.
