Bournemouth fine from EFL. Derisory.

Skysports News reporting that Bournemouth have to pay a fine of £4.75m to the EFL for breaking FFP rules in 2014/15.

What is the point of FFP for such a small fine? £4.75m fine for the amount of money earned in the Premier League is derisory. It basically says you can ignore FFP as long as you factor in a fine to your costs when you’re promoted. If they are serious about FFP then a points deduction or even not allowing promotion without showing how you meet FFP is the only way to make it work. It’s annoying when our club has been promoted within FFP rules when Wolves clearly haven’t , yet we start on level points.

you cant deduct them points when they arent in your league anymore though

They should deduct them points pending their arrival back in the Championship.

Will certainly make them think about the rules a bit more if they face a possible double relegation.

There needs to be rules set up in conjunction with the Premier League to deduct points if a team has overspent (cheated).
If not then a massive points deduction awaits any team that comes back to the championship, let’s say 25-30 points.

I hope everyone will come to realise in time that ffp doesn't matter.
A club may overspend, a few mill more doesn't hurt

There is an established formula for calculating the fine for exceeding the allowed level of losses , which gets higher the more that allowed level is exceeded. Hence QPR being on a potential fine of over £50m.

We may have been promoted when complying with FFP(P&S) Rules but so did Wolves. Not sure why a number of people seem to believe they didn`t.

It will be interesting to see how city shape up in FFP terms for the season just gone. We might be sailing close to the wind if the reported 10 million of promotion bonuses are taken into account.

I don't agree with the FFP system anyway. Its main effect Seems to be to make it more difficult for clubs who are not already successful and wealthy to compete with those that are. It is great for the established elite clubs like Man City and Chelsea who have already benefitted from massive subsidy from rich men under the old rules but cannot now be challenged by other clubs who might want to do the same thing. Chealsea were particularly keen on FFP's introduction, I recall.Their elite status is protected.

In the Championship parachute payments give a huge advantage to the clubs relegated from the Premier League and other clubs are prevented from matching their spend even if they can find investors willing to put up the money. No other business is subject to such anti competitive restriction as far as I know.

If we really want a level playing field the only way forward would be through salary caps applying to all clubs equally. That is not going to happen, unfortunately. In the absence of such a system I preferred the old unregulated one, despite its dangers, than the unfair straight jacket of FFP.

What were QPR fined,as stated either a point reduction or a deferred fine until they are relegated.
They would then seriously reign in their spending in light of the fine which would massively hinder them when relegated as it does QPR.
I wonder how the QPR owner is feeling?

yes technically Wolves complied with FFP...the reality is that they have manipulated their accounts though.and the number of people you refer to include other owners and chairmen..
on one hand you have Cardiff...generally viewed as promoted against all odds on a small budget ..yet to comply we need an owner probably throwing in his allowance which i think is 8 mill. this suiltan fella with MALAYSIA shirt sponsorship when has zero to do with their tourist board plus how much in parachute payments..?

agree...what is financially fair about a small club being promoted from league 1 with no parachute moneyt having to compete with newly relegated from the prem clubs who A} have huge parachute payments ..and B} more often than not can off load a couple of players for 40/50 mill..
