Dutch auction for Grealish

Tue Jul 17, 2018 6:35 pm

Apparently, Tottenham are in pole position to sign Grealish but are waiting for the price to drop because of Villa' s predicament. He may soon come within our price range as even @ 15 £million he could be a great signing and still keep the budget reasonable in comparison with other clubs. After all we do want to stay up don't we ?

Yes we do want to stay up!
But Grealish always goes down!
No thanks!

There’s no way he would join us. His wages would be high at Spurs and no way we could match or better that.

People on here often forget that wages come into our budget when signing players - it’s not just a transfer fee.

Grealish is way beyond us, although I can’t see him getting in Spurs first team.

He will be daft to go to Spurs, because although, he’ll be on big money, as someone has said, how much game time will he get? He’ll be better off at a smaller club, where he’ll play every week. I’d love to see him play for us as I think NW will sort him out.

Of course wages are a big factor but if Villa could afford him in the Championship why cant we in the Premiership

He's on around £20-25K at Villa.

When he moves, that will increase 3 fold. That is your yardstick, not what his current wage is.

As for being "sorted out ", he's been sought after by the 3rd best team in the country, a team managed by one of the worlds top managers. The very last thing he needs is to be "sorted out " by someone like NW.

He's out of our range. One of the top English prospects outside the prem, with clubs like spurs after him do you honestly think he'd accept our wage restraints?

Rediculous post.

Couldn’t agree more. Skilful but hate that sort of player.

Although I do agree it would be very unlikely for us to get him. You all seem to think he wouldn’t better but I’m not being funny but last season villa were shocking until he came back from injury and he single handily got them into the playoffs. Another thing is yes he does go down a lot but he does get villa a lot of free kicks and our strongest attribute as a team is set pieces. He is exactly what we don’t have a natural playmaker so I think he would actually suit us very well.
