Stoke On A Mission

Wed Jul 18, 2018 4:33 pm

Having read the thread “ biggest test of my career on smallest budget” I followed it up by looking at Stoke’s transfer activity/ambitions this summer.

I don’t normally look at other teams but they seem to be blowing us out of the water at the moment when it comes to budgets and they have gone in the opposite direction from us. They have made several hefty signings and are looking to Maher further hefty signings. SSN reporting that they are looking at both Tom Ince and Matt Richie and they have also tabled a 13m bid for ex Spurs centre back Chiriches from Napoli. Add on top of that the signing of Nigerian international Etebo for over 6m, Keeper Federico from Bournemouth, Benik Afobe for over 12m and they have retained Joe Allen on a long term deal.

The only major outgoing is Shaquiri for 13m.

They are clearly splashing the cash for an instant return. As per the above mentioned thread I hope the club give NW money to bring in a couple of more quality proven players.

I'll bet you that we will finish above them.

Also I suppose you don’t like betting on a guaranteed loss.

A few big spenders failed last season,a successful championship side cant do it on money alone. I think I get your drift though, there has to be commitment and Stoke are showing that, lets hope we get that couple more players we need and that coupled with Warnocks mindset we have a happy end to the season.

I wouldn't want Ince he's had his day and Matt Richie at 15million and 60k a week they can keep him too.

You can understand now why Rowett jumped ship from Derby for Stoke.

He could either manage a club who constantly bottle it, who are facing strict FFP restrictions and have to resort to cheating by getting games called off when there was no justification for the same.

Or move to manage a club where he seems to have almost an open chequebook and be able to buy players for millions of pounds.

However, having millions to spend in the Championship as we know is absolutely no guarantee of success and personally because of what he and his shit club did last season I'd love to see Stoke get relegated again this season.

With Swansea.

That Nigerian guy they bought looked really good at the World Cup too

Didn’t boro spend 40 odd million and were favourites last season? No guarantees in the championship. The manager is vital, that’s how we made it.

I’ll put 50,000 of my pounds against 5 of your pounds that we finish above them.

Look at those odds.

It could happen if CCFC went bankrupt before the end of the season and were expelled from PL & FL. Hopefully there is no chance of that happening :?

Looks like Tom Ince is signing for Stoke. Strange one: give up the Premiership for a Championship battle unless he has been told he is not going to get much game time.
